Oither things can be burned to to cook with. The most interesting in my mind is dung. Which can be dried and used as fuel. This has been used by primitive societies for heat and cooking. Any area that has a large animal population could be given dung as a resource that can be dried and burned.
Also, grasses can be bundled together and burned in some cases. It won't last as long as wood, but in a pinch is better than nothing. Any area with grains could be given grass, which could be bundled and burned...

There is grass in game and it's been found. Not by me, but it exists none the less.
I don't think they're listening to us anyway. This thread has probabally been written off as having gone off topic, when it's right on topic, and they're going to go ahead and screw up all the foods first before dumping buggy food preparation on us.

It"s good idea, but when we have manufacturing limits... We can't take to much hard things. I propose to change limits. It's very flustrated! When it changed, cost of food will go up.
Many new players can resign of this game when it's too hard!
Sory, but my englisch isn't good.

No problem Matix, we can understand you.
I don't know if the limits need to be changed. Maybe the rates of resources used to prepare food could be raised, so that while still the same limited number of people can gather, more wood/salt/coal/whatnot would be gathered.

http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6507 I just posted a message here relating to the firepit, spit, and primitive ovens. As for alternatively fuels for cooking, they are currently being discussed and should help alleviate some concerns.

My eyes went wide when I saw you post that. I went and checked, and sure enough, one of my characters is holding nearly two kilos of $h!t. Fresh, even.
I thought it was a bad idea whan I suggested it, Now it's only going to be worse. What's more, I think the adjective, "Fresh", means it needs to be processed before it's even useable.

While talking about the raw foods..
1) Fishing is a very hard way to depend.. even with a spear you get 70 per day.. and then you have too process it, for example, smoke it with wood. And then, you eat 30g per day.. you eat what you catch. Not any storage.
Compare its rate to the spinachs' and carrots' please..
2) And when the gathering rates and the consuming rates will be changed.. what will happen to healing rates. I mean will we require the same grams of healing food for %1 healing.. even its gathering rate is increased or decreased?

We all know fishing sucks and needs to be fixed.
Dung has been added as a primitive cooking fuel, so hopefully lack of wood won't be as big an issue for getting some foods made.
There are no plans to change the healing food gathering rates or statistics, only the raw vegetables that have been ruining the food system balance for so long.
A few efficient food preps that do not require wood or cooking should hopefully be on their way, but I am still looking for more ideas, so if you could add recipes to the New Meals thread, I would appreciate the input.

Fishing net and fishing from boat
Fishing net and fishing from boat - this can help people in many poor locations... Let's build dinghy, go fishing with net and you gather 500g cod - this will be fair and give chance to such locations...
