'beef' and 'milk' cows are both normally female - very few bulls are kept alive - you only need about one per twenty odd cows to make sure they're all pregnant and producing milk...

Because the cows have to be pregnant to produce milk - they're are loads of unwanted male calfs - useless, as they don't need that many as future bulls - they don't produce milk, and they're not worth keeping for beef meat, as there's more than enough from dairy cows...

As a result - very large numbers of male calfs are just killed... They're seen as useless - especially in countries, such as the UK, where veal as meat is not commonly eaten...

So - if you drink milk - even if you're a vegetarian - it's resulting in the death of thousands of unwanted male calfs...

Unfortunately, the other option - being kept alive for veal meat - is even more horrible, as they are often intensively reared in awgul conditions

anyway - sorry - that was a rant and far off topic - please ignore...

I beg to differ...Where I am from, few male cattle are kept as bulls, the others are castrated and are called steer...steers are beef cows...females are rarely used as beef, either veal or milkers.. and to correct my earlier statement...hefers are females that have not given birth (I think  )

You have mean a member of this forum for over 4 months, and you haven't realised that people choose to discuss strange (and generally irrelevant) topics?

For shame...

What ever happened to the nutter that was talking to herself in Seatown Forest a few weeks ago? That was subtle but funny. I say subtle because my character hardly knew anybody, but I was able to slowly pick out the woman in her twenties who was seeming to say things that didn't fit into any conversation...kind of like a string of IC forum posts.

....After all the my question was never answered. I was just wondering if he was a Bull or really a Cow..cuz its a he..and if he was a milk or beef cow...not what the difference between them are. Although it was impressive to see how many people here know about cows. I had no Idea that cantr players were so knowledgable about there cows. :)
