Yes, hunting bows, not crossbows.

Yes...but the crossbows does hold together longer, so I don't think it will be a problem after all.

Is it the bow that's rotting or the bowstring? If wooden bows are rotting away simply becuase they're wood, that's wrong. If it's the bowstring that's rotting away, that makes a smidgeon of sense, but is still to fast. And, if it's the bow string, one on a crossbow sees lots more strain than one on a recurve bow, so it should be breaking faster.

In real life, when a bow string breaks, you make/get a new bowstring, you don't go cut down a new tree and make a whole new bow.

I dread to see how things break in cantr.

Hello, I'm a new player. My chars are about 21 years old. And I like the game as it is.

Yes degration is a problem. Because you have to repair or you have to make new ones. And that takes time. Time is scarce so there is a problem. Remember that time is scarce in reallife to.

There is another problem though. Technology. In the game we have the possesion of crossbows and we hunt for food. In reallife when someone invented crossbows (around the meddivalls) there where sheppards too. Hunting was for fun not for daily food. We made clothes from the wool of shaved sheeps, not from the wool of dead sheep.

In the game you could organize hunting parties for food on motorcycles with bone clubs. I've never seen that... :) In the game you have people driving a sportscar, while someone else is walking around naked. That sure doesn't sound like reallife. In the game it has to do with the age of both people. In reallife we would call a dad driving a sportscar who's child is going to school naked a jerk. (Sorry)

Maybe these are problems in the game also.

Have fun playing,
Peter

Aren't "crossbowstrings" usually made from some kind of metal cable?

Yes, in real life they are. But, in cantr, they're just regular ole' bowstrings. I'm not the one who broke weapons down, it's not my fault.

I don't have a problem with crossbows requiring bowstring--it enhances trade. I don't even have a problem with them requiring about a year of small one-day projects to assemble. After all, they are the premier weapon in the game. And so I don't have a problem with the bowstring wearing out and requiring replacement either, provided of course that a repair function is implemented in sufficient time.

What I do have a problem with is the fact that they'll now take 3 years or more to assmble, and probably several more years of the poor sod that's trying to make one lying flat on his back resting from utter exhaustion.

So let's have a quiz. Has anyone even tried to begin making a crossbow since "tiredness" was implemented?

But some people, in real life and in Cantr, can afford to drive sportscars, while some people can not afford clothes. I do not see how it is not like real life in that sense.

Crag has yet to make a crossbow the new way, Crag had about 10 crossbow project started using the old ways and has 2 left.

I think the Stone Knights just may go back to only sabres or other blades now

Nick, if you think it's normall, maybe you should leave your chars alone for some time and take a walk around the house :) (sorry couldn't help myself) and look if you see someone walking around with a handmade bone knife (for use) and someone driving a sportscar naked.

I mean baking bread on a stone or baking bread in a factory. Those are two differect kinds of technology levels, which normally not accur in one community. In Cantr two technology levels in one community is pretty commen.

You could have always used pirates dressed in nothing but rose crowns and sailing in longboats. :D
