The Staff are Awesome thread

Postby Black Canyon » Sun Oct 14, 2012 7:05 pm

Working as a staff member for Cantr can feel pretty thankless in so many ways besides not getting financial compensation. For instance, there is a never-ending supply of new suggestions made by people like me who have no idea the extent of time and programming some of these "simple" things entail. Not to mention the constant complaints by players against other players, game mechanics or bugs, and the staff themselves. So I wanted to start a thread to point out some examples of the awesomely positive contributions made to the game either through programming, or time, or just specific assistance provided by a staff member or members.

I'm going to start by mentioning the addition of windows to the game. I'm not sure who was specifically involved in the programming, but... windows are awesome and I don't know how we got along as well as we did without them for as long as we did.

So... thanks for the windows :)

Windows =D =D Everybody loves windows!
I really think animal domestication is going to get awesome and I am already grateful for that!
And, of course, a big thanks for all the work we don't see, because when we don't see it you probably did it right in many situations ;)
BIG HUG FOR STAFF!

My character -will- have a raccoon as soon as humanly possible after domestication is implemented.

And yes, windows. Something so simple, yet so profound. If it was implemented 5 years earlier, perhaps the in-game economy wouldn't have slipped as much as it has.

Not to mention the vast amount of forum maintenance... merging with existing topic. ;)

Thanks though!

I may be dense, but what does your post have to do with this topic?

the last time i checked, which was three years ago, all those people were on the cantr staff. just showing them all that they are memorable people.

if they are not part of the staff anymore, then the answer to your question is "absolutely nothing".

To the wonderful, wondrous people that are the staff...

I have played and left Cantr four times past now, and am back for my fifth round. Every time I've played, I've changed as a person, as this game is more than a game: it's an experience. Every time that I've left has been due to real-life concerns, not due to anything within the game itself. And every time that I am able to return and play more, I fall more and more into the game, and I realise that it's a LOT more than decent people and fun role-play that make this amazing experience so damn addictive--ultimately, it's the staff, the people that are at some points the only things holding the fabric of Cantr together. Thank you, each and every one of you, from the GAB to the Language folks to the Players Department, and everything in between. From experience in other forums, games, and real-life concerns, I understand how very much time and effort goes into making this sort of thing happen, and oftentimes how very little appreciation is given for your sweat, blood, and tears. But, things like this thread should be evidence that a great deal of we players really do love and appreciate you guys for everything that you do. Thank you, gracias, danke, and merci!

Yeah, they're all great and stuff.

I miss being the only person with a pink name. :( Now everytime Doug posts, I think it was me...

Oh, and again, thanks for less clicks in the 'give something to someone' menu!
