True power is in delegation. No one character can do everything him/herself.

The lad empire (about 5 towns at the time) was run for about a decade by one single charrie. Just rode around setting sleepers on jobs and collecting the profit at the end. Just said he had the authority of the Empire and then everyone did whatever he said. Repuatation and fear is all you need, not power.

I do not agree. You don't need fear to lead an empire effective. Mine are doing very well without spreading fear.

To be honest I think the reason not many play world changing chars is because there's not much to change anymore. On the 2 major english speaking islands, and Shai everything is pretty civilized and status quot.

So, who wants to make a strictly hierarchical society? That would be something different. It might take a while to have enough interested players spawn close enough to each other to hear about it in-game but given enough time, it could be made to work out if there were enough committed players. I think it would be interesting if there was a society with strict guidelines for how to behave, and newspawns would be dragged indoors to be schooled and only let out when and if they seem to have absorbed how things are supposed to work in that town.

Wouldn't work, some goodie goodies groups would hear about newspawns being dragged and come and kill everyone in the name of ignorant justice

See we always speculate about society and this crap. But have you guys ever thought about how Cantr is already a unique and diverse society, completely different from ours, however boring it may be in some places. Look at every town law note. I'll bet you'll find they have something in common. And there are huge amounts of rural, self-sustaining locations, and then huge population centers, often the home to a big organization.

I think Cantr has a society going for it all it's own, but you've got to step back and look at it a bit to see just how different it is.

Many societies are dying out because of having less people there. And I hardly see towns that are being managed very well and as in this leader being active and changing things and caring about others.

It's a vicious cycle - Leaders give up without any active chars to lead, and new players give up when their first char spawns into a town without decent leadership.
