I agree, wow and nice.

I've gone and gotten myself poser pro 2010 since the last pic (pointed ear one ). Just have to figure out how to use it now, not as easy as I first thought.

LOL Thanks!
That's my Jessamin MacGregor and her beloved husband, Gregor MacGregor. Ah the good ol' days.

Oh, I once drew a picture of Dove mourning next to Jessamin's body in the crypt but since there were no custom descriptions at the time, I just had to guess what she might've looked like. Ended up with curly blond hair, I recall.

She used to have a portrait floating around but who know what happened to that, link definately got broken at some point I'm sure.

She was always a long dark haired lady with fair skin and green eyes. :D

Is it just me, or does anyone else out there mentally picture (other player's) characters differently than their description? (And yeah, I can't stand it when they don't have descriptions. One of my characters is in a place where they are the only one of about 8 people there with a description  ) For example, there is one woman who is described with blonde hair who I keep picturing with black hair. Is that because I have not enough imagination, or too much?

To much, definitely
How the hell were we able to play at all before the implementation of descriptions?

Maybe because to some extent we all stereotype. If someone acts a certain way you expect them to look a certain way. Only our stereotypes apply to the real world and not cantr. If you hear someones a high flying business man you automatically get a pictire of someone who looks quite respectable, probably in a suit. Someone who dresses like a goth is very unlikely to get a high positioned job in a well known company. In cantr though, who cares. The way you look doesn't come into it, its how good you are at doing the position. The closest I've seen to anything like that is a bit of sexism. When people start getting kicked out of town because their fat, then well be getting somewhere.

I've got 15 charries right now, started them all at once (re-activated old account so didn't have to wait x days to make new ones) and none are sleepers. They all get played, to different extents, but they all get played. However, only about half of them have descriptions.

I guess when I make a charrie I think more about what they think and act like then look like. (maybe because I started before custom descriptions, when looks weren't as focused on) What they look like will come to me over time as they develop. I guess also because I can work out a bit of what I want them to be like before I make them: clever, talkative, loyal, whatever. I base a lot of what they look like on their skills though (strength for size - stuff like that). I can't picture it unless I know what they are (and if i want them to fit in with those around them or not)

I remember seeing a lot of portraits there so I don't know how I could've missed it if it was there. But I seem to remember the hair being curly in my drawing. It was a pencil drawing so it didn't have colors, not sure about the blond thing. I've tended to use bad paper and pencils that are too hard for drawing so the results tend to be too light. Or maybe I only saw the portrait afterwards.

As for custom descriptions, it kinda bugs me to see Caucasians on regions that are clearly hot judging by the animals and vegetation, but maybe it's the genes. Still, if you have Caucasian characters in a warm environment, it would make sense to describe them as tanned or with reddened skin, unless they cover themselves with clothes or stay indoors all the time. I'm more likely to be friendly and polite towards newspawns who have a well written description even if I haven't heard them say anything or seen them move, since it's safe to assume it won't be somebody who doesn't know the difference between Cantr and a chatroom, and the presence of a description also proves that the player checked the character at least once, instead of being somebody who never got their account approval email.

I think people just play what they know, so that means Caucasians in the jungle. I could play another ethnicity, but it would lean heavily towards stereotype, which is cheap, so I don't try.

Really. Cheetahs run around in packs with raccoons, and this is what bothers you?

Rarely does a description of a character look the way I pictured that character. So for the most part I don't read them. I Reject Your Reality And Substitute My Own, so... Anyway I have 15 characters and only 1 has a description. Hate me all you want! Although I might put in 3 or 4 more descriptions but that is it.

I only have 8 chars, and only half of them have descriptions...I'm too stumped on the others to think of anything.
