Delano.

My first char. I had fun and learned a lot about playing the game. Whatever mistakes I made with him helped smooth out the rest of my toons...sorry for the noobness.

Thanks Siom for teaching me so much. Thanks Breanne, the Zwellingharts and Reniiya especially.

It was sad that he died. I think he was a fine character. I don't think I knew him when he was a newspawn so I wouldn't know about those noobish mistakes you may have made.

I didn't recognize any noobish mistakes or if I did, I certainly don't remember them so they must not have been all that signifigant or bad. :)

The funny thing is that I actually thought Seko played Delano, something about the way he did something one day. Lots of people like Seko's roleplaying so that must be saying something for Delano's player, ADM.

It's too bad he died. But on the upside I notice Reniiya seems more social since then in a weird kind of way.
I hate people.

I don't currently have anyone in Siom but I've had uh... 6 to 8 that have either visited or lived there for a while.

Poor Egg Thief nobody liked him. I knew he'd have, difficulties but dang! These people wan't him dead! AND NOW!

There he goes! Huvo Lardon is now dead while traveling.
His name is based of the spanish words for Egg and Thief.

I knew as soon as I spawned him it would be bad.

Sounds kinda sad but my first post is about my first dead char. :?

I suspect there may be a fair few more posted here shortly.

Fairwell Laura Ragnhild.. she was a simple woman who just wanted to make weapons.. but lost her business partner (Garreth Dars) and her own life in the space of a few short hours. Probably noone would know of her as she'd only just turned 21. She died a fighter, and a darn stubborn and opinionated one at that.

I'm relieved in a way (is that freedom I'm feeling?), although she was one of my favourite characters.. I'm new to roleplay and she was one of my more 'rounded' personalities that I just was starting to flesh out.

It is quite intriguing; the callousness of a certain group of players. I won't say more as this is relating to an ongoing event - but I'm rather interested to see what effect this playing style has on Cantr.. especially as Cantr seems so geared toward socialisers. It does make me very concerned for the marketing dept. :?

I'm all for conflict, in fact I think it is absolutely crucial to the game, but there is a point where the line must be drawn, for the sake of the world's longevity. Relentless killing off of large amounts of socialiser characters by a group of well-equipped killers will very quickly cause balance problems in this player base, IMHO.

Apologies if I have gone too philosophical on this - I'm happy to move my post elsewhere if it is more appropriate.

Characters. The callousness of a certain group of characters. The players that play those characters probably also play some of the nicest characters you'd ever want to meet. The distinction is very crucial.

You are correct re player vs character. My assumption was that it is the player acting out that way through all their characters. I'd be most impressed if that were not the case! :D I would expect the effect is still the same though (a group of powerful roving killer-type characters in concert despite how sunshine and rainbows their other characters may be!). I hope not.

But there are players who tend to get several characters that might be considered "evil".

Out of my characters (living and dead) 5 have turned bad in some point of their lives, at least 3 have killed somebody who wasn't necessarily a threat, some have considered acts of cruelty without actually carrying out their plans but if they had, it would've been brutal. And then there are minor things like petty theft, saying bad things about people behind their back, bullying people who seem less intelligent and being bitter at your loved ones when they don't give you enough of their time. Actually unless a character has both positive and negative feelings and sides, you can't call them well defined. It's easy to think that when a character attacks you, their player must be some obnoxious player-killer who enjoys destroying people's lives but often it's someone who has been playing for years, has a lot of well-established characters and most of them are good people.

Just have to add my piece (cuz aparently today I'm all knowing) to what you said Chase02. In your situation, Seko and Doug are correct. If you had seen the ages of the charaters you would see, the ones in charge have been at this a long time, their players have had them for awhile and its been a crucial part of Cantr, something people know about and love and hate all at once. They've probably got a few good samaritans who do nothing but help floating around in other areas too, I'd bet my life on it.

I'm sorry your charri died so young :( We've all been there and it friggin sucks.

But I'm glad to know she went out fighting. :)

My deaths so far were deaths without roleplaying. :(
