More than once now I've even seen people go as far as having a char that supposedly cares about them start talking about savagely stabbing and slicing at them till they're on the verge of death in order to forcefully cram food down their throat. Besides being ridiculously OOC and disrespectful to the player as well, I have to wonder if it seriously doesn't occur to these people that the player who's already made up their mind will just click the 'die' button and then the character that delivered the fatal injury will have to be considered IG as being responsible for their murder?

And what about those guys who sleep 60 years and wake up but would have died without food? Seen one :P And even more people who have slept 10 years but woken.. But yeah killing to get food sounds kinda overkill but I have seen that too.. Though none of them has woken or died on that... Instead died on heart attack year or so later. Kinda makes whole effort to go down in vain :/

Just a question.. How you know player is on purposely killing that char off? It's hard to determine really.. Some woke after sleep and continue to play and some don't so where's the line? Specially on starving some people leave really little room for food so I rather personally feed all than do mistake again and let someone die who was coming back..

Barring crazy circumstances, if you, as a player, don't want to play a char, or won't be playing cantr for a while, just say "I'm feeling very sleepy, I may sleep for a long time." Then I ABSOLUTELY don't have a problem feeding them.
But I've wanted to quietly sleep away characters without causing a ruckus before and have had to sneak pick up hide or something, or similar; at that being an OOC decision. My char may not be ready to die, but I as a player no longer want them. It's just a matter of--if the player can have the char feed themselves, it's the player or characters choice. IMHO.

Char Z: "Don't worry about it! I'll get these rocks done!"
Char Z: -working on project awkwardly (newly discovered skill)-
Char Z: ...Wow, I didn't realize there was so much detail involved in crushing rocks.
Char Z: "Wow, I really have no idea what I'm doing in here!"

Char A: -baking potatoes awkwardy-
Char A: (at the end of project) "Oh no, they're burned!" -tastes- "Oh Jos, these are awful!" -gag gag gag-
Char A: "Remind me" -gag- "not to do this a--" -gag- "...again."

Char H: -sewing something novicely-
Char H: -eyes the cloth and the needle intently and sews slowly and deliberately-
Char H: "These. Must. Be. PERFECT!"
Char I: O_o
Char P: o_O

I think the problem is that skill level really has no bearing on the finished product, and has only a teeny tiny effect on the time required to finish a product. You can roleplay being complete shit at something, but you'll produce the same thing as a master of their craft - and likewise, you can roleplay being good at something, but every Tom, Dick and Harry out there is literally as skilled at producing the final product as you are. If there was actual bearing in the code to make the quality of something produced by a poorly-skilled person lower... then I could see that sort of roleplay catching on.

So you can roleplay cooking burnt, horrible potatoes as much as you want... but as soon as you set them down, forget you made them, give them to someone else - there's nothing to tie those potatoes back to your poor attempt at cooking. They are the same potatoes as what everyone else makes.

I understand this but how you tell the difference with sleeper who might come back/or case like this? And actually awfully many people who play don't remember to eat themselves for some reason. It's actually funny how someone else need to give them the food

Anyway I understand and respect that situation since its so obvious but problem arises when we have person with room only for 500 grams of food and has slept like 10 years (that's 200 days) and continues to do so. It's obvious player logs in still but you can't really tell what's going on

How long that can last anyway? Cause I know sleepers who have slept since I joined and are still sleeping? And that's like +400 days..

They might only "sleep" with a handful of characters they are no longer interested in, but cannot bring themselves to give up (because they are in positions of power, or have sentimental value, etc.) If they're still around 400+ days onward, chances are their player is still logging in - just not playing them. Otherwise they'd have a heart attack when the account times out... which I think happens well before 400 days.

Often a town leader, or even a person who cares may consider it a responsibility to feed someone.

I don't personally do it.

I'm getting sick and tired of the couple characters / players that try to bad-mouth EVERY town on the radio. Or taking very firm stances on issues they know nothing about....and being nasty during it. After having been on the forum board, I'm pretty certain there are some outside agendas at play, and it's souring the game for me. What's sickening is that the guilty culprits would deny it while throwing out insults (here) for anyone even suggesting it... simply because they know it can't be PROVEN beyond the shadow of a doubt. It's a sick mind-game....

But I'm sorry... when you mock girls that claim rape (for example)... and then suddenly take the side of one... or when you constantly badger attention seekers.... then suddenly get all defensive over one....

And always against the characters of ONE CERTAIN player.... who has never been met by his very avid accusers....

It's irritating.
Yeah, call me crazy. I know it's coming, but you're also not pulling the wool over my eyes.

And no.. there's no point in reporting it to PD, because it's so easy to justify actions that make no sense in this game or are contradictory to how characters were previously played. Am I the only one seeing this recently? It's irritating to try and enjoy the game. It's just a game, people. Stop using stuff you see on the forums to ruin the game for everyone else. Keep your personal PLAYER opinions just that... instead of leaking them over to your characters because you personally can't stand a certain player.

Added: (Ironically, I make this post and people start talking about 'agendas' on the radio minutes later. Doesn't that just prove my point? All those on the radio.. guess what.... none of my characters have been on the radio about this issue. You're just proving what I'm complaining about.)

Irony,

"the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often wryly amusing as a result.

a literary technique, originally used in Greek tragedy, by which the full significance of a character's words or actions is clear to the audience or reader although unknown to the character.

It puzzles and annoys me when people post these very emotional rants about ongoing events, that no one with a char involved is allowed to respond to even if they cared enough.

Though just as an aside, it really sounds like you're taking your own difficulties in separating players from their characters and projecting it onto others. Whichever character of yours is involved, whatever you mean by 'ONE CERTAIN PLAYER' and whatever intentions you're assuming about other characters and players you know nothing about, you might consider taking a step back and trying to gain a little emotional distance. Just the fact that (once again) an ongoing IC event is making you come straight to the forum and rage about players, is a pretty clear sign that that's needed.

And this isn't even over one incident, but several in the last month. So no.. this isn't exactly inspired out of momentary emotions.
I simply think there are some very nasty players who take pride in convincing everyone they're innocent.

I'm not going to continue being belittled in this conversation. I stated my opinion, no matter how invalid you think it is. I've had confirmation in pm's, so I know it's not just me that feels this way.

Have a lovely day.
