I think I can do that instead of pouting. :)

Paragraphs that are too long. Ngh, I play Cantr on my DS and it's really annoying when I have to scroll and zoom in or out all the time. Gaaaah... calm your fingers down!
You say: "*dramatically falls on the cot, curling up and screeching* *what is it doing is it crying what*"

Very very rarely do I see childlike characters actually played well. And at the moment I wish my character could strangle a few of them.

Too many people just look at the good, cutesy side of kids "oh I'm so innocent and cry sometimes".
Children are fucking sociopaths, where is my 'childlike' character that wants to see how lizards work and so cuts them open, or gets mad that mommy won't get them something and destroys something of deeply sentimental value?

The radio was entertaining for a time. Now it's not.

IRC was active for a time. Now it's not.

Some towns have grown silent. Some groups have lost their heart. Some characters have lost their creative spark.

Ideas wither. Plans crumble. Dreams fade.

The world is dying.

In the two years I've been playing, I've seen things go in cycles with Cantr. Some days are quiet, some are almost impossible to keep up with. I don't know if I'd agree that the world is dying, but we're certainly in a quiet cycle at the moment.

If you look at amount of sleepers (there's towns with +15 people where only 1-2 are awake) then yes world is dying. And it's evident also when you look amount of chars and players :/

And as personal experience it also seems there's more of crap talk about others etc. The hate amount against certain town sometimes make me want to unsub, reminds too much like reading comment section of newpapers

What's started to bug me is that it seems like half active players who could be contributing and doing things and creating interesting RP are always wanting to strike out on their own or 'start their own town'. All by themselves. Or else they cling and cling and cling to town's that have already died. Just seems to be missing the point, on so many levels, and it leads to people being spread thinner and thinner and people falling asleep. There may be plenty of room out there for everyone to have their 'town', but it's a society sim. Interaction with other players, be in RP or simming or cooperation, conflict, and trade, is the game.

Half of the other half have no goals or drive and will sit around having sex or repairing bone knives and making idle chitchat all day. :/

No offense, but this seems like a weird thing to want to quit over. Politics, grudges, rivalries, and all that are a part of the game just as much as other relationships are. And if anything I'd say those are all things we need more of...conflict, especially the non-violent kind, is so rare, but when it does happen it drives RP and keeps people on their toes.

I have no doubt this has to do with finals/holidays/etc coming up. My own chars need some sleepy time just so I can focus on my school. A lot of people are doing the same.

It's just that time of the year, people are extra busy, making plans or preparing for all sorts of things.

That's the excuse I have for the typically active characters anyway.

I do think a significant part of the problem is almost anyone with any ambition seems to want to start their own town, or resurrect wherever they already are into a proper town when they'd do better to move to or merge with a neighbour. There's far too high a ratio of town leaders to wakeful citizens.

I guess it's because in irl we follow others so people want to be more free on a game which results to this, even if it's funny and.. game breaking. Kinda many do this one way or other. It's a problem but how you change that people want to start their own town? It would be better to merge into existing one but I guess people don't want to do this because then they would be not town leader and I guess why they start is to be one

And there's many reasons why people cling.. Couple of my chars are doing that and it's because I try to keep them alive or I'm leader or what ever. And hope they wake up, there's always reason behind this . Now I wouldn't either myself want to log into just to find my chars dead. It's community game indeed and I think it's nice gesture (beside my time zone usually makes it anyway so that I miss all the fun so I would still most likely be on when rest are not so at least I can do something nice) But this again is thing that people have different reasons why they play this game. But you have a valid point there, however it's thing that will not unlikely change and we just have to accept it that people play for different things and.. Like different kind of RP.

There's a point then such thing is no longer fun at all. There's already people quit because of it and I to be honest think that that's quite clear sign it's no longer fun. I like other things like building stuff, custom descriptions and so and it feels so frustrating then this whole crap talk is killing this particular town. I'm honestly only playing because if I would quite I would also kill at least 30 other people because suddenly nobody would feed them or that particular town yet again would have no hope of better...And I still enjoy playing couple of chars and building communities, I just hate that unnecessary conflict and honestly what's the point when so many sleep and empty towns between towns? You can't even have political parties or anything.. Just not enough people

how you change that people want to start their own town?

Make it too difficult or too dangerous to be off on your own. (Except for the most grizzled and strong of course.)

That's realistically part of the reason people grouped together in the first place in real life.

And how you do that then there's all around empty towns? Heck I could start one right away... It's super easy with all machines and buildings.

Salvage everything from an abandoned town, destroy all the machines.
