Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
It's depressing when my characters want to die, even if I didn't want them to die. If I had to cut a character, it would be a happy one who has no reason to die.

I try to give my characters unique ish names. Nothing like banging haphazrdly on the computer like Keixylm, a rp character I had on another forum years ago, but still. Street names, names of my pets, a name that synesthetically fits my image of a character, interesting puns.

Oh, me too... But, who would had thought they'd be two chars with such a carachterstical Galician name? (It happened years ago) and this one now it's a common name, I know... My fault... -.-

I have a very old character with a name that I saw on someone else that is by far much younger, and it bugged me.

Yeah that's.. really annoying. I don't see it as flattery, I just see it as being unoriginal :/

Most of the default descriptions are that way, so people follow on those as a guideline for how to write them.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
Was asked to post this.
Murderer says: "Yet if he takes something, and I knock him out, and he decides to end his own life, I'm blamed for it. Sure not like anyone can actually take me down, but I'm not going to be painted the bad guy again. I refuse."
Murderer says: "With varying opinions. *he does a mocking high pitch tone of voice* Did you have to knock him out? He ended his own life! I blame you!"
Pretty sure the ruling on NDS is that it's the attack that killed not that the character "decides to end his own life".

Yeah, dying in NDS is never suicide unless explicitly roleplayed as such.

And where is that rule? If the player clicks die, and wasn't dealt a finishing blow by the "murderer" Then where does it say it's not suicide?

A character in NDS have the possibility to die immediately. It's done by clicking the "Die" link on the top of the character info page. For other people it looks the same as death because of untreated wounds. It should rather be treated IC as death because of wounds, not suicide. There shouldn't be IC assumptions like "he died 3 minutes after fatal blow so he wanted to die". It can be treated as suicide only if char in NDS roleplays it this way.
Unlike some other rules, this one is stated clearly on the wiki.

I've always seen it dealt with as "oh he didn't have the will to live" or similar.
I think it is kind of complicated, though.

One of my characters was recently attacked to a NDS a few days after having just recovered from NDS, so I figured it would make sense IC for him to die. I was pleased to hear (over the radio, through another character, just by happy accident) that the death was being treated as a murder.

I don't think it's that complicated. When a char dies of a heart attack you say they had a heart attack, not 'well their player hit the unsubscribe button so I guess they decided to die'. Same goes for a battle axe to the back of the head.
And I remember awhile back Optimus Christ made a lengthy post about one of his own characters being killed, I didn't get the impression he considered it a suicide then.

Well, no, they could have just gone inactive, so you couldn't make an assumption that they intended to die, either.
And I don't know, let's say you're a pirate, and someone won't drop their keys, no matter what you say. Only way to get them to do so is to NDS them--but you don't intend to kill them, and so you are actively healing them when they die. You did everything you could do. Same goes for leaders/guarders-->thieves, etc. They wanted to be obstinate, and you did all you could.
