When you're a loyal Imperial citizen, who through a misunderstanding ended up in the Lad. Prison, and they say you're free to go after you help drag the bodies out.
That happened to me in a different forest. How can we drag without the key?
BAh, I have a private who's been an active pvt of the imperial guard, (part of the guard protecting from the time Blackbeard was expelled) and after 2 whole years, of above the normal workload (handling civil duties, chasing crooks), is still a buck pvt, while ppl in Lad, get promoted like that. Some sorta shape that is...
I think it was about 12 years before I got to corporal. YOU CAN IMAGINE THE FRUSTRATION!!

Hobbes made it from buck Private to Captain and Commander of Naron (Lad Imperial Guard) by 25 years of age.

Is that supposed to make me feel better?
Though a lot of the times privates are being promoted as fast as a Deputy promotion.

No, what I'm saying is that promotions are basically useless except as superficial incentives to take on the initiative and be active. Did Thomas become known as Naron's Commander? No.
When I play my characters, I feel there should be stronger bonds between characters in organizations. Such as would be displayed by the previously mentioned MacGregors.

Yes, I kept on asking what else I should do to become promoted after such a long time and they said Jack did a bunch a stuff that privates are always doing and I've always been doing so blah, blah, blah...ok

Because he left! That's no way to become a Commander.
How ya gonna keep somebody like him down in a small, coastal town, when there's that romantic image of the world and women and sunsoaked beaches? True personalities just don't sit idle ... or as he put it, "Under the warm sunlit morning, free of Naron’s claustrophobia, my skin has hued a golden accent and the winds have swept me through lands that are but on the fringes of maps. The sun, enlightening me with its company, has also melted the frigid, rigid ways of the Empire and Naron. Nonetheless, I still wear my leather Captain’s cap, once a symbol of my new position in the Empire, but now adorned to show that I am a Captain of a different sort. A Captain of the seas, I risk all my tangibles and trial my intangibles to places exotic and foreign. Each new town is an entry into the Hobbes Encyclopedia, and each change of the coastline is a different stroke for my map of the Mainland. The colors of what I see begin to roll onto the page, my ability and my will growing with each sun soaked day on the waves. I dare the bluffs of the mountain of knowledge, tracking it hard, climbing it higher than any before me. The more sun, the more presence of light, the more I see, and thereby, the closer I am to that ambitious place on its peak." [Lady Surreal|Hobbes Narration]
And by the way, that's a story teaser. It's part of a larger narration, which is otherwise unavailable. I'm wondering whether or not to leak it to the Zine at some point, but I feel the precedent hasn't been set yet.

Yes--being an editor's daughter and a webmaster, I'd have to agree. Have you ever seen such an obvious mistake on one of my posts? And I'm 13! LOL

I started playing in september of 2004...I was 16 then and I'm 18 now...
But I really don't have much of a choice but to quit Cantr at the end of the summer. I don't know, and please, don't consider this an official resignation. But I am planning to volunteer in Bosnia next year, and I don't know if I were to continue to play if I would even have time to play.
If I don't go to Bosnia, I will be attending Brandeis University in Boston, and then I just feel like I need to devote my college time to studying. I just see the end of my Cantr career as inevitable...*he sighs* Wow...I never thought about it like that until right now...
