As for the reason the minutes are like they are, my theory has always been that it was designed to make replies seem less awkwardly far apart. Starting early in the Cantr minute, you can take four Earth minutes typing a reply and your character still responds in the same minute, or 9 Earth minutes and your character still responds in the very next Cantr minute. The resulting logs look more natural than if there were several minutes recorded between replies.

I don't know if that justifies the confusion, but then again Cantr was designed to be slower paced than it has become. At one point (news to some, reminder to others) there was a time limit on how much you could play per day, and projects were designed around people only being able to get on once or just maybe twice a day. Coordinating minutes between players would have been mostly out of the question.

For me, tick watching and having a knowledge of the system seems a bit in the gray area of OOCness. I've never seen a character actively try to figure out how the world works. Of course, if one did, they would likely go insane.

I'm pretty sure the 3-hour tick periods were designed to accomodate for the slow-paced nature of the game way back when there was a time limit. The server itself was also a lot slower back then and probably couldn't have handled all these ticks processing 24 times a day instead of just 8. The rest of the weird numbers probably came from a combination of what computaertist theorized (about awkwardness of timing and whatnot) and the fact that 36 minutes divides itself quite evenly in 3 earth hours as 1 Cantr minute is 5 Earth minutes.

So we have
1 Cantr second = 5 RL seconds
1 Cantr minute = 60 Cantr seconds = 5 RL minutes
1 Cantr hour = 36 Cantr minutes = 3 RL hours
1 Cantr day = 8 Cantr hours = 1 RL day

Not so hard, really. Just annoying when there's downtime and the clock freezes. :D

My next character will just have the wiki page for snowflakes copy pasted in the description. Saves a lot of time.

This bothers me. There are bottles in game, and if you pretend to have one without having one you're breaking the rules. Those things are really easy to make, too.

People only pretend to have bottles and such because they don't know how to roleplay drinking or passing around liquids without them. I never do that, but to each their own. It is breaking the rules, but unless I feel like having a potentially fruitless debate about how to role play liquids without containers, I don't bother anyone about it.

It would be pretty odd to drink from your hands (cause irl it just kinda goes to floor) So in that sense we just think it's sort of impossible to do I guess.

Just don't mention the container. Or else deliberately draw attention to the lack of one, because that never stops being funny.

That's what I do (one or the other, depending on my mood).

You're thinking like an Earthling. This is Cantr where the physics are made up and gravity doesn't matter (unless you try to role play flying and get reported).

Can't help it :D That's just one thing among others that are against physics and well.. I guess that's just some OOC influence you can't help. I mean people think moon and sun too so...

Or make a freaking container, it's not like there aren't literally fifty options ranging from savage chic to tacky gold.
