Ditto to that!

This rule is not to "punish" anyone, people make it sound like we're killing off those charries who are plagued by animals. 40 days with one less character isn't really going to hurt anyone, is it?

It may give added value to life, which has been a complaint by many for a long time, that many don't put much value at all on a chars life if they can just pop another up out of the dirt as soon as they're dead.

Those that this will deter is the characters who purposefully want to die, so that a player can try to group their characters with others of their own, or their friends, or find a preferred location, or who just want to continue to cause disruptions in the game. They often do this continually, day after day, character after character. This will slow them down, at least.

For those who lose one in a war, or one to animals, this short delay in starting a new character will give them a chance to put more time and effort into their other 14 characters. That is a good thing, Martha! :P

 nobody understands, taking a char slot away from me is like.... tossing a crack addict into a locked cement room

it's the need for the game for the chars and the 15 available options of lives to play. i admitted before i once had more than 1 account because i needed more cantr lol and i only have 1 account and that means only 15 chars. every slot counts. when the ability to use credits for more minutes or an extra char slot is implimented it'd be more exciting than .. well lets not get inappropriate here ok? this is why i complain about loosing the use of a slot for 40 days because of a legit death, and i'm not even one to complain about those nuisance newspawns i actaully have chars that enjoy killing petty criminals, so not only does it take fun away from me as a player loosing a char slot but also destroys a well enjoyed sport for about a third of my chars. (the loss of the slot of course being the main point, the sport can be replaced with other things to fill thier time.)

although i do admit i have seen places where people spawn sit and wait to die but i should add to this i find they more often die of heart attacks than starvation leaving me to believe they are timed out accounts as opposed to starving themselves to spawn elsewhere. again as with some things i say i cannot go into more detail as that in itself would be a crb lol (the 4 day rule)

EDIT: woooohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! BINGO! ok i thought of an idea, how about people can also use credits like days? so if a char died and the slot waslocked, a person can apply "X" amount of credits to reduce the lockout by "X" amount of days, 40 credits for 40 days or 3 credits for 3 days, you get the idea, honestly this would end my complaint about this new rule, heck it take 40 votes for 40 credits and therefore 40 days of that just to get enough to cover a whole lockout right? this would encourage voting especially if someone did have a suicidal newspawn, c'mon Jos it's time to exploit those suiciders so they actually help for once, make them obsessive compulsive voters to support thier suicidal habit! :D does anyone else see how this could be a good idea?

This is an RPing game, when a character of yours dies it doesn't mean you played badly, could be quite the opposite (as stated many times by many people).

So by introducing this people can no longer play their characters how they should be played. Its going to be a case of 'oh no I might die if I carry on like this, I'll have to chance my whole personality or I'll lose the slot'.

This is just a way of stopping anyone under 25 from breaking any laws in case thier killed for it.

What we'll end up with is even more useless sleepers sitting there getting stone but instead of having them for only 2 years now you have to put up with them for 5!? :?

That's OK, when they die, they'll leave lots of stone for the rest of us.

How is a person afraid of losing a slot any different than a person afraid to lose their life? Like you said this is an RPing game, people should treat it like that. If a person wants to RP a suicidal idiot, that's fine, let them be sucidal, but that's a CRB and they should be penalized for it.

I highly doubt that a person is going to be a sleeper for 5 years.

Also, it may be stopping a person from breaking the laws in a slight way, but I mean if you want to break the law, break the law, but should you get caught breaking the law and you are chased by 5 guards, it will make you more willing to turn around.

Waaah! Boohoo!

Seriosuly, if a person is really such a weak, easilt influenced pussy I hope they delete their account, they're not contributing to the game with their crappy RP and CRBing. (Like the char of a player like that would have one of those 'personality' things anyway...)

So a player is in a situation where they might lose a character, and the only thing that keeps them from taking a risk is the fact they might lose their character slot?

What about the actual character? For anything but one you're killing off on purpose, keeping them alive vs. taking a risk should already be something you deal with everyime something dangerous happens. If someone actually cares about their char, losing a slot is nothing compared to losing them.

This is precisely my issue with it.

There's already far too much niceness in game. It's really sickening in some places (Kwor Beach anyone?).

This could easily be (mis)read as a demand 'from above' that all characters should be 'well behaved' and 'nice', i.e: not do anything criminal.

I think that is reading waaaaaaaaay more into it than there is. And I think it's being blown all out of proportion. I doubt this will change how well-rp'd characters are played. Those that only steal to get killed? Why do they want to get killed? That is the only "criminal" behaviour I see this having much effect on. If a player is going to wimp out from having a pirate char, just because the slot will be frozen for a while if they get killed, well.......I think that's just a cop out, and rather immature thinking.

I think it's a cop out too. This new change won't stop me from having thieving characters and possible pirates. It's the fact that it might stop some, which worries me.

Annoyances such as thieves and pirates need to be encouraged, not discouraged - but that's just my (fringe) opinion

I consider, that the theme is rather interesting. I suggest all to take part in discussion more actively.

Why should theives be encouraged? It's not a real life simulator if you have people taking 2000 grams of onions and a bone shield and then willing to die because they took it. If a person is going to steal, they should be encouraged to put thought into it. With one of my characters for example, I needed food for an expedition I wanted to go on. So what I did was I waited till the boat I had was complete, took 50,000 or so grams of rice out of the granary and then sailed away. That act of theivery took thought. Taking 2000 grams of onions and a bone shield doesn't.

I agree that thieves, pirates, and other bad guys/gals should be encouraged. 8)

However, I would appreciate shrewder and more creative thieves, pirates, and baddies. I would like to see more planning and treachery going into the process, and a healthy fear of death just might encourage it.

I can not participate now in discussion - there is no free time. I will return - I will necessarily express the opinion.
