What you are claiming is that we staff members abuse our power and thus to make the game fair everyone needs to know the same thing. I do not hold to that philosophy. None of my characters ever had an advantage over other characters because of what I know as a player and being a staff member.

I'm not talking about staff. I'm talking about players with wealthy characters who can find these things out for themselves. If the relative effectivenesses of weapons were kept secret, the player with a character who could have all the powerful weapons in Cantr in his inventory at the same time (in other words, most of the experienced players) would be at an advantage, because his other characters would be able to use the information gained by that character.
And no, I don't trust players to be able to compartmentalize their minds in that way - if you're capable of having your characters play out the whole discovery process, that's good for you, but I don't see most players doing that, even if they had the moral fiber to want to do it.

Though they are nice, standard things...

The strongest weapon in Cantr?

Sometimes its a building

Sometimes its a locked building

Sometimes its a crowbar

Sometimes its a boat

Sometimes its healing foods.

My opinion? A wakeful crew.

I would love to get one of the best weapons then. See how bad I can hit someone with it.

There is no good reason not to have the information listed considering the FOIG rule was abolished. I think Nick might be right in this case.

I had a character who could hit for over 50 damage with a steel battle axe. Shame he never got the chance to really use it.

Sure it's not a longbow, TSL? :D

And, 15454, I'm not sure what the best physical weapon is, but I know there's several other weapons much nicer than sabres, at least in my opinion...

Yea, I've heard lots of good things with those and claymores... and I personally like crossbows... Longswords are nice too...

Steel broadsword is better than a saber. Only one of my chars has a crossbow which would be even better except they're lousy with it.

How do combat skills work, anyway? I know they can improve, but is it the same as with hunting? Because I have chars that five or six animals every day without getting better at it, so I can't even imagine how long it would take to get better at fighting. Even massacering an entire town probably wouldn't be enough.

That's not 'your opinion', it's a fact. :P

And rkl, while I can respect your conciencous objection to the FOIG rule removal, point is, it's not your decision to make. The decision was made by Jos (and the GAC, I assume) and announced. It is IN effect. Let's see now, with Wichita as the RD chair, if he will comply with this rule.

You can get better at both... I've seen someone get better at fighting and have had my own char get better at hunting...

Yes, I've seen someone get better at hunting, but it must take a [i]lot[/i[ of hunting, and nobody fights that much.

Also, and sorry I know this is getting offtopic, do you improve in other skills the same way? Like if you repaired a whole bunch of things would you eventually get better at it? And does it go by number of projects or by number of hours working on them?

I think other skills also improve, but I've never really watched them and I wouldn't know how they do...

I have a character that did SIGNIFICANT damage with a bastard sword. It's been taken away, though.

It would have been a decision made by the GAC probably with Jos' advisement but it's not really up to Resources to release this information. It is up the GAC so I would rather go and complain to them rather than me or Witchita.
