They may suck now, and have stats that directly contradict how I have RPed them for 30 Cantr years... but I will not condemn them to death.

The combat change is doing that for me...

Hmm.. what weapon are you currently using? because theres skills for each individual weapon... Or weapon type at least. If you have a crossbow I sudjust trading in for a Sabre and if you have a sabre I sudjust you trade it in for a crossbow.

This is not true as of yet.

Wasnt sure if it was true but I experienced the same thing my self so it was just a guess ... or something :P

Well I heard some one mentionting they hit better with long range stuff (ex. Cross bow) rather than a sword or something (ex. sabre)Ill try to find who said it.

ahh here we go :D

Unless the database recognizes a distinction between ranged and melee, and has separate skills for each?

RKL, any help here?

Also I noticed that ranged weapons tended to do better against some things than melee...desert tortoises for example. Is my mind just playing tricks on me?

And this might seem sort of stupid, but for the older chars who have been great warriors, couldn't you make them better specially for them?

I don't have any older chars so this wouldn't effect me at all but I would vote for chars over 30 or maybe 40 to get better hunting and fighting skills on request from the player.

Maybe this would result in a flood of requests and the programmers couldn't handle it or maybe only a few people would feel like it was a really big issue in order to maintain the reality of thier chars lives. Perhaps they would be required to write a paragraph explaining why these skills are so important to their characters.

I think that would be to much to keep up with, But Maybe you could get like a random skill bonus once you hit level 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 etc. sience you get randomized attributes/skills when you first spawn why not do that?

I have only 4 characters to whom combat is important. 2 of those are okay... kinda.

I would be prepared to write an essay if need be. It's a small price to pay for my characters reflecting my RP.

Actually, I didn't mean that everyone should get the bonus, only existing older characters.

Because if you get stuck with a pitifully weak newspawn now you'd start off RPing them as such, but it's very OOC for someone who had been a good hunter or fighter long before skills were added to suddenly start sucking at things they've been doing their entire lives.

It wouldn't be too much to keep up with, the only people that might need changing is the people who are old now, not young people becoming old.

Oh, and for the not combat skills... I am guessing that not all of them have been made visible yet?

Wow these skills are nice, now I can compare. But now the question is, in what order should I read the words? I've seen:

skillfully
efficiently
expertly
novicely
awkwardly

this last one I've seen on my own chars too much. :( But hey, what is the right order?
Not that good.

I think it is arranged as:

expertly
skillfully
efficiently
novicely
awkwardly

with the top being better then the bottom.

I'm amazed with the skillsmost of mine sucked at hunting..but now they apparently..don't? Well with the exception of 1 of them. That one character still hits awkwardly. All the others are novice and above, most of them "skillfully" hit all animals.

Talapus, you have the right order.

Surly, I'm sorry, I can totally see your point. I'm thinking of a solution right now. Not sure whether there is an easy one (I'm not going to spend hours programming for this ;) ...). Perhaps it would be possible - no promise yet - that every character that is old than, say, 30, can select one skill where it gets a bonus ... But older chars already have such huge advantages simply due to having gathered the right weapons etc. I mean, your chars might not be experts, they are well-weaponed and experienced in Cantr tactics, I presume.

Oh, and Serenity, you make it sound as if different skills for different weapons are going to be implemented. They are not, at least not currently in the planning.
