Good idea! Trying to translate all the stuff I found that sometimes it's hard to translate it (I don't even know specific polish words for translation).
Just look how many different types of hammers are in game... (I really don't know how it looks like in real)

Cantr players are never going to be satisfied, are they?

If I will create this automatic interface, all those mixtures will be known even before any character discovers them. The key of exploring will be to find out *where* you can find them, *where* you find other societies, and what those other societies are like ... Not what resources exist.

Oh, and with an automatic guide I mean one where you can click on a machine, get all info about it, can click on a resource you need, get all info about it, etc. So no pictures or descriptions, just a linking system through all info that is currently in the database on these items.
Graphics and descriptions would be cool, but are too much work to be implemented anytime soon.

Maybe not about the resources and it shouldn't be on the manufaturers page. Perhaps once the machine is made instead... But once you build a certain machine you can usually find out what it's for by using it...

Not to oppose the Mighty One, but I disagree. The enjoyment one gets in exploration is different for each explorer. The wiki categorically removes one possible (and very real) method of discovery.

I agree that characters should still be limited to knowing what they themselves have had experience with. For example, someone living where there are no bears shouldn't know they exist elsewhere, unless that character has heard or read of them.
I guess the same would go for resources. If a char has never seen or heard of copper, how would they know that it even existed?
However, when a char does see copper, he will automatically know what it is for, which is fine. That's what's been missing up to now.

There's a character who's now in Burgeo that created an apothecary table and now knows exactly what resources he's looking for, even though he's never seen them and nobody knows where they are or what they do.
And that's before the Wiki, even. It's not realistic, but unlike real people, cantr people all have access to a list of building things. Maybe it's just one of those things that make them different. A mental encyclopedia.

Well for the ones that are really opposed to it all, just don't go to the CantrII Wiki. Its contents won't be spoken about on the forum. That is what the Wiki is for.... If I'm looking at it right there is a place for discussion in there as well...
It's good role-playing that will help keep the IC discovering real for the rest.
Just because you know how to make it doesn't mean that if you're in an area that doesn't have the right resources to make XXXX Item, then you should go out of your way to look for them.
That would be bad role-playing and on some level I'm sure CR breaching.

at the same time, though, your CHAR has access to that info in game (if you make an apothecary table, you know what you can make on it, these mixtures. You don't know what they do, but you know what you need). I think it's a little sketchy but you can't claim that there's anything wrong with it, really.

i agree there, but even if he knows what he's looking for, he does'nt know what they do, or how to get them if they are uncommon resources, or how to produce them if they are semi finished products. all he knows is the names of resources he needs to make something... what that something does, he does'nt know...
