I've played for over two years now and I can say that I have had a few characters get wiped out by massacres.

There was Hogan Blight of Cantr City. He was a simple wheat farmer for William Delano and Piers Anthony in his power hungry grab at Cantr City had him killed for what reason unknown to him.

Thomas Covenant barely escaped Purple Tortoises massacres of Tircqi. Covenant was pretty much the political power in Tircqi at the time and has spared Purple's life in previous incidents so Purple spared his before he left to find help getting rid of Purple since Purple had at the time taken out the entire sheriff force in Tircqi. Then Thomas was killed by Erin Yest and her followers (after the time warp) because they thought he has the keys to the government buildings which he did not. Purple got them from Mayor Holmquist. I really think Yest killed Thomas because before the time warp, Thomas returned to Tircqi after Purple was taken down and throughly beat Yest and her followers in the council elections. Thomas and Yest were bitter political rivals holding to two totally different political philosophies. Yest wanted to get rid of (which she succeeded to do after the time warp by murdering Covenant) the current government.

Falkirk Corla, my first character ever, died in the massacres in Krif during Maynard Leeward's rise to power and the First Krif Empire came to be. Falkirk was the military and police commander of the Drojf Republic which was then overrun by the First Krif Empire.

Those are the ones I can think of right now but I'm sure I have lost others that I didn't become attatched to before they died due to massacres.

the new system definately, make massacres impossible, but wont it better, if we saw at least some large scale violence and wars.... then just dragging around... after all, the real world is'nt a warfree zone, and there is noo reason why cantr should be.....

Hello Black Knight.

The new system makes quick massacres with a small number of people impossible. However, if you are well equipped (I won't say more then that), one good fighter can massacre a large number of people, but only perhaps a half dozen per day, while an effort by many people could still easily massacre an entire town

That treaty was not due to the changes in the game. It was for in-game reaons.

You could say that.
But I'm going to have to agree with him. The main cause of the lack of war was due to changes in the game.

edit: wars and whatnot are almost impossible these days due to the changes added due to excessive whining and complaining by forumers

That's why you only see pirates. The only feasible way of doing anything in Cantr.

I believe there would have been some actual combat during that KF/Karnon/Whoever war if it had not been for the excessive tiredness that was occuring at that time.

In my recollection the tiredness was adjusted to the more resonable rate which occurs presently at about the same time that eveyone got tired of the drawn-out cold war and decided to declare peace.

Hmm... I never get tired much when hunting... Or is killing people harder that killing animals?

Combat in short is impossible. Not only is it impossible to know until you've tried if you are indeed even able to hurting someone with said weapon, but the tiredness makes anything shy of the before mentioned Dragging and killing.

But another issue is the making of weapons. Back in the days, the only thing that took as long as it takes to make a weapon (through the various fases, example turninf hematite into iron ore, iron ore to iron... The list goes on) Would be to make an entire town. Actually, it might be faster to make a town of say... a hall and.... a half dozen buildings then the time it takes to make three sabres. All that work and toil makes it too much of a waste to try and do any real combat. The threat of death and wasting all that time making said weapons isn't worth loosing that quickly.

And before I left, deteriotation was in effect. And while I agree with the concept (to a degree. I still think it's funny someone could be useing a stone hammer from the early 300s  ) It makes it impracticle to try and use the same weapon to slaughter a town. I haven't actually tried this, but from what I've heard a crossbow wears out in a week. And thats with constant use. With at max, six people being hit per day.... and not even assuming they have shields or that you are proficient with weapons... The weapon would break before you killed half the town.

I personally have a lot of respect for the Barons. They seem to have made the system work. But as I understand, they had a good bit of luck on thier sides. All the guards seemed to have the sleeping sickness, and no one else was able to stop the group. I'd love to hear how long it actually took them to completely sack the entire town of Blaman. I'd be willing to bet well over two cantr years.

The point of these changes were to make it so that small groups of people didn't dominate Cantr. If you want to build weapons than get a group of people to help you and things will go faster. I disagree that combat is impossible. Impossible for small groups or loners against large groups of people but if you build larger groups and then try to go up against other larger groups I can tell you now that things would probably get interesting.

*nods*

I agree with RKL. Just one question RKL... I have started a short proposal for weapon changes. Is it worth me writing and submitting? I mean, will you consider what I say? My guess is that you probably kinda do what I'm proposing, but I'm not sure hope viable it is.

Anyway, should I submit it to the RD?

Put it up on suggestions. I'm always happy to read what other people think might make it better. Sometimes we are limited by the programming. And I'm not the final word on weapons changes. I have to pass major changes by Anthony and if he thinks it is a major change then he has to pass it my Jos or the GAB.

We at Resources read the suggestion page quite often so I'm sure we would read it. You can also e-mail us at resources@cantr.net .
