It's not a computer game

Postby Thomcat » Tue Apr 19, 2005 2:30 am

The important thing for me, and probably for the rest of us, is this:

This isn't just a computer game! It's roleplaying. Whenever you take an action, decide to kill off a character, turn into a pirate... you are affecting other people! (some of them Canadians)

Seriously, if you want to remove a character, wander off to an empty area and then email PD to remove them. Don't screw up *my* roleplaying game with your OOC comments or "Please kill me" posts.

No one said anything about that. I believe the discussion was about neglecting them to death.

lighten up, Nick. I don't see anything wrong with his comment. Indeed, he's one of the few people here who's stayed out of the whole guns and weed and jingoism bit.

Unless I'm being really naive, I thought Thomcat was saying he was Canadian. Nick, I think your being way too PC here. And make up your mind, should another topic like the one you mentioned come up never again, or just on a different forum?

I love Canada.

hockey, Niel Peart, Molson commercials, Shatner, the Kids in the Hall, maple syrup, the word toque, the Regina Roughriders, socialized health care...and many more things that I am too tired to finish typing

I've got the Canadian flag hanging on my living room wall. I hope to live there in a few years.

I love Canada.

So what if there are a few unfortunate posts coming from there. I can't blmae an entire country for the actions of a few foolish individuals. That wouldn't be fair.

P.S. this post is meant to be playful...not political, or snide...please don't wig out, I'm going to bed now. :D

Right under his name, it says Seattle.
And I'm being as defensive as I should be when someone insults my country.
As I said, look at what happened when Schme ranted about the USA.

You know, there used to be a topic here. Maybe if people just ignored all references to countries on the GD and suggestions forums (since they can't be relevant in most threads) we could not crash and burn because of one pointless parenthetical comment?

...I'd post on the topic, but I think I've already said my bit there. Except...like Thomcat said it's better to use the PD to regulate your character population, rather than CR-breach starving a character whose only reason to die is your not having time for them.

I've got no (well, not much) problem with having some of your characters die to regulate your count, though if you're doing that too much maybe you shouldn't start characters that history shows you won't be able to keep. But that's not really the topic.

Wasn't it you who said you were killing off some of your characters due to their lack of combat efficiency?
Or was that one of the other -ists?

No, that'd be Sociologist that you mean.

Wish you could have looked that up (in this thread, even).

I thought that was halarious.

Ah well, to each his own, eh Nick?

Your right, the discussion was originaly about just leaving guys to starve, but people who go around saying "Please kill me" or who start breaking laws and being suicidaly violent are just as bad. It ruins it for people.

I'm in total agreement with you.
