I don't think anyone suggested adding cartoons to Cantr (unless I missed it somehow). There was a discussion of cartoon-like emote descriptions and Seko included a cartoon to illustrate what she was talking about.

Since I don't watch anime I still don't quite understand it, though. Is that cartoon frame suppose to be the view thru the eyes of a char and those big drops are sweatdrops hanging off of his forehead?

Also, regarding the anime emotes you don't like. Are you saying the Cantr character just emotes with the word *sweatdrop* as opposed to indicating something like *sweat drops from his forehead*?

And what is wrong with someone emoting *puts his hand to the back of his head*? I don't think it's a really common gesture but some people do it when they are confused or frustrated, I believe. I've never thought about gestures going in and out of fashion but I have to say it seems to me like an outdated kind of thing. I always picture it happening in movies from like the 1940's.

Hope I understand what you all are talking about enough to make sense. :)

Actually, kinvoya, it's a third-person view, and the sweatdrops are on the two characters' heads. A bit exaggerated, but then again many cartoons are.

Huh, thanks, Celthin. I find that to be bizarre (and not in a fun way) and visually senseless.

Clearly, I don't "get" anime. Their giant, dead eyes creep me out and, apparently, they sweat a lot.

You're welcome, kinvoya. Yeah I have a whole bunch of friends who like anime, but I personally don't like it especially much, often it's quite strange, especially the way a character sometimes just falls straight over when they find out they've done something incredibly stupid or something. They go from standing to the ground in one frame... Although, when people use *blinks* or something in Cantr, it actually doesn't make me think of anime, so I don't mind it especially much. I also don't think that a person should stop using emotes that they feel accurately represents their character because someone else gets the wrong image when they do that.

it's just different visual devices for portraying imotions in cartoon. in american cartoons, they have the lightbulb over the head, steam coming out of the ears, etc. in anime, they have the sweatdrop, the bulging forehead vein, etc. it just takes some getting used to.

but cartoon emotes in cantr = bad.
DOOM!
