I solved my problem long ago, June, sorry. I couldn't connect because Trillian Pro has issues with DALnet, stupid Pro version being worse than Free version *Kicks it in the head*.

At least, it doesn't work for ME.

I can get in with mIRC though, so all is fine on my end.

IRC doesn't work for me. Can we find another way to do this like a regular chat room? It is much better and less crap than an IRC.

All right, I finally got the answer that I was looking for. It appears that users of broad band access especially Road Runner will most likely not be able to connect to IRC because of the router used to connect to the broad band. I am also told that other routers may also block access and my computer is hooked up to two routers, Road Runners' and then a wireless Linksys router for multiple computers, so it will most likely be impossible for me to get on.

The reason why I am block from the IRC is because these routers provide a physical firewall and thus this blocks certain information needed from my computer in order to access the IRC client.

The only method that I might have been able to us was the method that Revanael presented the otehr night before Dalnet blocked it because all of us that were on were using the same IP address from that site. Unless another such method presents itself I won't ever be able to connect to the IRC.

It worked great for me, for two days straight. Now I can't connect at all for some reason.

Me too I haven't been able to connect except that one time. The server that worked that time keeps timing out and the DALnet chat client can't connect to anything either.

Rkl: did you try a different IRC server? I figured that my problems were due to my router & LAN, but I have absolutely no problem connecting to a server other than DALnet.

RKL: I'll try and find something for you. That same client my instructions were for can be found in various places online - DALnet never got back to me about why that particular site was autokilled.

Did you try using DALnet's own cweb client at www.dal.net? That may or may not help, if you can work it out... I've not yet tried it.

I've tried Dal.net and other IRC servers but they won't let me connect. The only one that ever worked for me was the one you had posted earlier that doesn't work anymore.

Are you now talking about our applet or the CGI one? Because I did talk to DALnet IRC ops and they told me it was because our applet gave all users the same 'real name' which looked suspicious. (Our applet doesn't do this anymore.)

I meant the CGI one I suggested.

irc

Chatting to dal.net is prohibited from a lot of domains. I'm living in the Netherlands and when I connect to dal.net via xs4all, I don't have any problem, when I connect via hccnet I even not get a ping reply.
Maybe another irc-net is a better choice.

Cheers.

Lenseth: try the CGI:IRC (the method I had you using before) again.
