Back on topic (though it comes from another topic):

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out how that whole time thing works. It says there's 36 minutes in an hour, but then it'll also say something like '' so right now I'm a little confused.

You mean the line that says:

There are 20 days in a year, 8 hours in a day, 36 minutes in a hour.

That defines Cantr years, hours, and minutes (minutes are kind of useless). "144 minutes till next hour" specifically says Real life minutes. There are 180 RL minutes to a cantr hour.

8 cantr hours = 24 RL hours (barring glitches) = 1 cantr day = one RL day

Well, if he comes back I'd just like to add that I have a new char :) that has spawned in a new area. He has traveled through like 3 towns already and there is no one, no buildings, no people, no activities, no nothing.

In my opinion finding new land like this is cool cause you can see new things, but it has its downfalls like.......no body to trade with so you have to go get everything yourself, no maps so you just travel blindly into unknown territory and basically no people so it can get pretty lonely sometimes. :( Some people may like this. My char. does but I for one have to get used to it.

Hehe, I just spawned into a place with no resources but wood, so I guess my fears were unfounded. :) It's really interesting because I just had to hit the road and hope I wind up in a place with food within a reasonable amount of time; adds a little suspense.

(And I'm a she, btw...)

Dumb Newbie Question(s) #3 : Are all new areas and roads premade? (at least the ones on the same continent?) I noticed that accept for animals you never see any resources while travelling, so it's not like someone's going to plop down in the middle of a road and say, "Okay this is a town now." You can't give drop or givepeople items either? And I know players can improve roads, but it doesn't look like there's anyway to actually build a new one.

EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. Yes, I love Cantr, but what's with the grammar? Seriously, check out this winner:

He wears a crown of elaborate make, with a few subtle marks and ornamentations carved into the large ring that encircles the wearer`s head. The crown begs of importance, a cloak comprimised of pure wool yarn, hung and tied over the shoulders, designed to catch the breeze and a piece of clothing that covers the lower part of the body from the waist to the feet, consisting of two cylindrical parts, one for each leg, which are joined at the top made of a thick, wispy material.

By the third sentence the writer in me is writhing in agony. :D LOL, sorry if I sound critical, the thing is, I really like the clothing descritions because they're well-written, detailed, about the only strong imagery in the game, but the sentence structure could use some work. (I figure it's probably something to do with the coding, but the first two sentences came out just fine.)

All roads and locations are devised by New Lands department. Players can't "make" new places, so to answer your question: Yes, all places and roads are premade and defined.

As for Cantr Grammar, that's something we ALL make fun of, but nothing that can be done. It all needs to be simple to understand, for all languages, and if we made it all grammarically correct in English, the system would need to be changed for Polish, and then changed again for Spanish, etc etc. So, the simplist way is a single description for something, and just all seperated by commas. Then, the Languages department translates the description for other languages (I think? I don't have any other languaged characters.) - You'll also notice something similiar for animals, "Moose" and "Mooses" - Yes, we all know, Moose is plural and Mooses is no such word, but with the Cantr system, it's just plural with an s. You see a Deer. More than one Deer? You see a Deers. It's terrible, but we all gotta live with it.

As for clothing descriptions, they're written by Tailors (I am one of them. *Bows* - Thank you, thank you.) - We accept your praise.

Couldn't you make it separated by line breaks? Like a list, instead of a piece of horrible prose? It would be much easier to tell what someone was wearing that way. As it is, I almost never bother to look if someone has more than one item on...it's too difficult.

I agree with you there, a list would be much better than a big paragraph... Plus, it wouldn't be that much trouble to change all the items to have a period on the end, heh. I'll go see what Programming Department has to say.

I like the idea of using a list; as it is now even when I'm trying to focus on what the descriptions I have a tendency to skim over them once they start getting jumbled.

And of course, it's time for Dumb Newbie Question #4: Can you collect wood without an axe? The impression I got was that you could get three hundred a day without, and six hundred or more ifyou had one. Only I've been collecting for almost a day now and I notice it's still at zero percent...

Answer to Q#4: Yeah, you can, but Time has stopped for the moment, so nothing will happen.

No resource needs a tool to gather it. Just some are amazingly slow if you don't have the tool.

Anthony: a list wood be better than the current mess. The descriptions are good. The whole lot together is a mess.

Just incase you don't know what this means... Uhh, sometimes, something goes wrong in the game, and time stops complelty - Turns don't progress, minutes aren't reset, etc. It happens pretty often, I'd say at least four times a month... Oh well.

Okay, so that's straightened out, but now I've got another problem. (lol, sorry, I'll figure all this stuff out eventually...)

I have plenty of wood and stone, so I go to the 'build or manufacture' button and select a stone hammer. Hit 'continue' or whatever that arrow says there, and I wind up in my inventory. I'm not sure if I'm missing a step or what, but I can't figure out how to actually start the project. From the inventory I tried clicking the wood and stone and telling it to use them on a project, but I just got a list of other people's projects, with nothing about my hammer. Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

If you really started the project, it should be on the list. It's just harder to find with all the other projects blocking the view. Scroll down the drop down menu really slowly, the project should be there.
