I don't think it is a personal choice weather you RP periods or not. It significantly affects the gameplay. If we can roleplay that our characters bodies are capable of things we don't know that they can. Then we might as well RP magic, telekinesis or telepathy.

Your kidding right? Comparing physical body functions to Magic? Come on people. That sounds "to me" just as ignorant as there is no water in the ocean cause your character can't go over and touch it unless you type it. Or that grass doesn't exist cause you can't pick some up. Not everything can be programmed into the game. It would take to long and to much space.

My point exactly. Thank you Nick.

You know what I don't care about this either. People are going to do it anyways there is nothing you can really do about it.
HA! HA!
So, go play.

Well I lost my post somehow, so I am going to walk away and re think what I was saying, But if everyone wants to go technical and into can and cants of a simulator, If there is not a button for it, then technically we should not be able to have structurized governments. Judicial systems because hey it is cantr not Real life so if they can not have periods, and can not have babies then why have voting and governments. Basically we can eat, kill, build and talk.. Ok so to make it interesting someone has imposed governments, and judicial systems. that added RP aspect of the game, People RP piracy in game, people RP Bandits in game, So if you want to say people can not Role Play then why Play a simulator at all? Because it adds to RP it is not a set story line... I mean where is there a written transcript of what Must happen in the SIMULATOR? it is open I have seen characters RP bug's, I have seen people RP Elections, Just because it is RP does not mean that it doesn't exist. If an entire Community does not see a child that is Role Played, then the person with the child should be deemed Insane. But if others do RP the children then the ones who do not see the child should be deemed insane. Is there a Marriage button in the programming? No but societies within Game do have marriages, and characters do see themselves as being married. That too is RP, But you are saying because it is not written it does not exist, So what if there are characters out there who do not acknowledge that Marriage exists because it is not programmed into the game then to that character it does not exist. Shall I continue?

I shouldn't even post here. I tried my best to not even READ this thread. However, that being said, it seems I'm being encouraged too, because it sorta ties in with another arguement I'm having simultaneously...
Please excuse me, I'm a guy. This is hardly my area of expertise.
A few things about periods.
1. Their a physiologial function, like defecating, or eating, or sleeping. Their impact on the "playing" of the game is minor.
2. People aren't interested in the "physicalities" of periods any more than they are interested in the realities of feces-management. (i.e. no-one wants to be bothered with the concerns of the sordid underbelly of being alive, it's part of the joy of escaping into a fantasy world. There's no sickness, pain, or the physical necessity of dealing with poop or menstruation or worse, other people's waste).
3. Without the physical aspect of periods, you're left with a mental state (i apologize for the over-simplification, but...) much like anything else that appears in the game already through RP: from bi-polor disorder, schizophrenia, multi-personalities, or even just general bitchiness (which periods minus menstruation bear a striking respemblance to
).
I see no problems with people role-playing periods(let's just keep it to the mental bits, though, eh?). However I do have a problem with people assaulting my characters with used tampons and primitive pads covered in feminine waste (thankfully has never happened). But, it's not a very appealing prospect.
In answer to other topics raised in the last post. There is and always will be a VERY REAL difference between IDEAS and OBJECTS. Religion, Justice, Government, Insanity, Periods (sans menstruation), Banditry, Piracy, are ALL ideas. They all modify activity that can happen in the game already (through combat or communication). Objects, whether they be Gnomes, Tamed Horses, Pets, or Babies, just straight up do not exist. And since this game is not a free-form RPG, but rather a system that puts constraints on the manner of your role-play, it'd be nice to keep some bounds on activity. There remain those other chat-room-based RP opportunities for all of you interested in such "object" based changes to this game. Or by all means, encourage the PD to MAKE changes...
In the meanwhile in my humble opinion, it's best to wait for things (i.e. objects) to be introduced to Cantr by the programmers, before people start RP'ing them.

This is very true of Cantr. However, rp of this type (sans babies lol) privately between two characters, really matters not. Therefore, in my opinion, if a couple wants to rp menstruation(yes, i've been part of a couple that has lol), kudos to them. (or smoking marajuana, or relieving themselves, or anything else that's not tehchnically allowed - as long as it's kept private)
However, I do enjoy seeing the rping of wounds from attacks. It adds more realism to the decreased health of the character, and even though the wound itself, or even the blood, cannot be seen, it should be assumed to be there.
