Re: Town Leader Gender Bias?
What Swingerzetta said... It does seem to be that male players characters are generally more self-serving, whereas female players are on the whole more selfless, or more dedicated to a greater cause or ideal. I'm not saying that applies in all cases, but it's probably a trend.

What about gender bias as a whole in Cantr? Besides leadership, are there any other examples?

Well one I can think of that has always stood out to me is in the subject of gender identities and homosexuality. I've noticed that if I have a female character who dresses more masculine, or is a lesbian, no one bats an eye, but my male characters who choose to wear a dress are constantly asked why, or if they're attracted to males they're constantly asked by females why they can't change their mind. To the point where even my gay male characters who have friends who are lesbian females, are afraid to admit they're gay because people act like it's so weird but there's lesbians all over the place and no one ever begs them to reconsider their sexuality over and over again...

You know, this would almost make sense in a society where men are considered subservient, like what was discussed above. However, I don't think I could argue again that people are subconsciously responding to female leadership in that way, though... It's pushing my latent instinct theory a little too far. I don't know. Maybe someone who has characters who actually try to find relationships (Mine never do) would have a better theory.

Re: Town Leader Gender Bias?
My youngest character (male) was offered a position of some sort of a junior town manager. He was like "I dunno if I could handle that", and the matter was dropped. I don't know what made him seem so trustworthy, there were other people who had been in town much longer than him. Why not ask one of them? Do my characters have some sort of an aura of trustworthiness around them?

Re: Town Leader Gender Bias?
At the moment, my characters are in towns with -
Male and female leader, although the male half has slept for ages.
Male and female leader.
No real leader.
No real leader, he's in a boat with three friends.
Female leader.
No real leader, also in a boat with three friends.
No leader, he's in a boat by himself.
Two female leaders.
No real leader, she's in a boat with three friends (third character to have that particular situation).
Female leader.
Female leader.
Female leader.
My characters don't tend to seek out leadership positions, and are generally happy with their town leaders
I've had a few male characters who have worn skirts, but never a full set of feminine clothing, whilst my female characters are similar but in reverse and with skirts. Generally, they just wear what they are given or can find.

Re: Town Leader Gender Bias?
My characters homes are in places with:
My characters are all girls, but none of them would feel very comfortable being a leader. 4's willing to take charge if she had to but would rather not, and 10 hates to have to answer to anybody but herself, but doesn't want to be in charge of people.
- 1. No real "leader', but the most in-charge person is male
2. Male leader (though the current population is 2-3 people)
3. Female leader
4. Male leaders
5. Unsure - charrie's been away for a while and I can't quite remember
6. Female and male leaders (though female's more wakeful)
7. Female and male leaders
8. Unsure - charrie's too sleepy
9. Unsure - hard to tell who exactly is leader. Male's nominally leader but female tends to run stuff instead because he's sleepy? I think?
10. Female leader
11. Male leader, I think. I'm unsure.
12. Female leader
13. Unsure - charrie's too sleepy.

Re: Town Leader Gender Bias?
I started doing this but turns out I have a lot of characters who are captaining boats. Only two of my characters live in a large community, the rest are either in small communities or traveling.

Re: Town Leader Gender Bias?
Now, it seems that almost there are not female leaders played by women?!

I have one, and it's not even the first time I've played a female town leader.
