Not sure if this thread is good for the game. I understand that keeping the game copmpletely anonymous is hard - people are going to get to know each other through this board and will tell their characters but this thread makes it easier to find out that info.

Hence, the spoiler warning that takes up the majority of anThony's first post.

Actually, I am quite surprised, I guess due to my relatively smaller amount of characters, that I don't know most of those that were listed.

Well, I have 15 characters and I've only seen three or four of the characters mentioned here. Or maybe I've seen more and I don't remember them because they weren't important to my characters or weren't very interesting.

I have to agree with you, Deb. And Thomas as well. I think it creates a totally different atmosphere, whereby people are focussed on who is behind the character, thus changing how you might play yours, regardless whether you think you will, or want to. Especially when you see that person plays more than one character that your's knows.

It also opens up the possibility for someone to start coordinating their playing for unsavoury purposes. Not that I would think anyone posting on here would do that, but everyone can read it. And believe it or not, there are some players out there who would jump at a chance to chat with a player they now know is behind a char they want to help them. I think this thread is very dangerous in that regard.

I don't let very many people know my chars, certainly rarely on these boards. There's likely a couple that have been mentioned, but I'm not going to start reminding people. You'll just have to guess. :P

Personally- I think you should be permitted to hint, slip or givaway some of our characters on the forums, many of us have done so, but I can see where the Players Dept. doesn't support the giving away of all of one's characters. Letting loose the names of several mutual characters, especially if they have had an ongoing and solid relation I don't think could shatter those relations. If they hate each other, they'll still hate each other, if they're friends, they'll still be friends. I think the risk of a small amount doesn't provide for such a collateral that can not be risked for some OOC discussion. Giving away such a large pool of characters is as in this public forum on the other hand, I must agree, in hind sight after reposting a few characters names- that it would be very risky and "dangerous" to post entire character lists. In conclusion, privately detailing to someone mutual characters is interesting and seems relatively harmless; but public detailing of entire character lists for the first time- is not particularly healthy in my two cents.

p.s. @Oasis: Your sig "If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much space," is rather ironic to the degrading of "danger" in the prior post. =)) The sig is also notable missing.

:D They're welcome. I don't think there will be to many more though (in some of the places he's been already), he's getting old and the trips he makes are measured in years...I figure he'll be hitting 60 before he makes it back to Siom again.

I might identify my characters, but only if I was directly challenged with them... and none of them have been mentioned on the forum yet that I know of :(
