One of my characters also had the corpse disease. They ate more food for a couple days, but even though they remained around corpses it went away. So apparently continued exposure doesn't necessarily mean the disease will continue.
Circumlocution built under her expectant gaze, her lips ushering a soft sigh. He resigned, face flush. Next up ordered a venti latte.

Just pick a lock and steel one ;) Pretty easy then there is sitting 30 nicely on row without any living person near (Warning, you might though find bodies)

This commentary only applies to part of the conversatiom, but really that there are more and more items made and resources gathered in the game is a good thing. In real life technology goes up and up dramatically. That has happened in Cantr as well. The roads are a good example of that, because once they're upgraded they're always upgraded, and that's how it should be (unless you add road rot, but that's besides the point). I will say that ever since I started playing Cantr I've made an effort to make use of the resources hoarded, including giving things out for free like iron shields. This isn't something that just started, that towns have a storage of unused things, this is something I first noticed with one of my characters in the 1000s.
There is certainly much more that I and others could do to make good use of things. For example, one of my characters had the goal of trying to make everything you can possibly make in the game.

It is. At the very top (or top 10) of the list too. :)

That sounds great. I hope it has a 'slowly break down' format rather than just a sudden poof and gone. it would be grate to pull up into a hoarder's town and see rows of rusted out beaters on cinderblocks :)

I believe the majority of my characters would be annoyed if they had a car or boat that suddenly started to deteriorate, because they already spend a huge majority of their time doing repairs as it is.

I agree with this. There's already too much time wasted repairing tools and weapons, who needs to repair vehicles as well. All time in this game will be spent repairing.

I spend a lot of time repairing on some characters, but it is because in some places, there are more of the same tools than people. The idea of introducing decay to other items would be to force the existing ones to be maintained, or remove them from the game so new ones have to be built. In the real world, things that are not maintained eventually do decay and become unusable, and it would be nice to see that replicated here.

I love the idea of everything decaying. I don't think that very very simple, non edged tools (like hammers) should decay fast at all. But the row of cars in a 1 person town is just silly :)

And there's no reason a person shouldn't be ABLE to have a large line of cars, if they want to put the time into maintaining them all. But more often than not, most go unused and therefore would likely be allowed to decay, or be sold off to someone with a higher need. Decay would introduce some interesting economic elements to the game as well... since the ultra-rich players in the game would simply not wish to have to put in that much effort to keep up their piles of wealth, and have to part with some of it in the interest of having help to keep their empires going.

That's most certainly not the norm, though.

i also think it's weird that you walk into a ghost town or a town with one person in it and you find 30,000 meat laying in the newbie hut. that stuff should have fed generations of rats long ago.

I personally wish that ALL food decayed fast (er) depending on how well it preserves (jerky vs hamburgers), and how it's stored. barrels and silo's can keep grain and goods longer. freezers could keep it longer, etc :)

Too much decay would just make cantr more of a chore than it already is for me.

I would agree that decay should be balanced against fun. A reasonable amount would strike a balance.
