getting rid of perma death? next thing you know we'll see old characters come back from the dead.....

do what you feel you need to do to keep the game alive, but getting rid of perma death would be like getting rid of the game. if you can't die then there is no consequence for being bad. and "good" characters can still be a dick by locking you up and never letting you out.

so then what we wouldn't need to eat either? it sounds more like you want to take the actual challenge of the game away in order to stimulate more to the games story. not a good trade off. we would have a whole new problem. a whole new reason to be bored of the game.

however, should perma death be removed, it WOULD make a lot of people happy......temporarily.

I just joined Cantr like a week ago. And I love it. And...I'm very concerned to view the statistics on the Cantr homepage and find out that the number of players, particularly in my language, is at an all time low. I believe their are out of game, and in game reasons for this. Cantr is flawed in many ways, from what I've observed.

However...Perma-Death isn't one of those flaws.

In fact, Perma-Death is what attracted me to this game in the first place, as I'm sure it attracts many others. You know how I found out about this game? Not from any advertisements the staff have put places, or any of those top games sites we as players are encouraged to vote on. I learned about it by googling Perma-Death games, and finding Cantr's name on the wikipedia page.

I've always hated games where I don't feel danger, risk, or potential punishment. Most games you can constantly save, and then reload if you fuck up. I try to avoid doing that, because I want to accept whatever punishment is dealt out. If it is death, of course you have no choice but to reload, unless you want to start all over again. But if it isn't, I want to feel that close call, I want to lose that ton of gold worth of potions I used to stay alive during my mess up.

And Cantr is even better...because you aren't starting all over when you die permanently. You are playing a new scenario. Things will go completely different for you the next time around, unless of course, you make yourself completely inflexible.

Yes, yes and yes, so much yes to what you just said you have no idea. It's good to see someone else who can notice Cantr's flaws and still appreciate the game for what it has the potential to become. You sir just earned an amazing spot in my book of awesome sauce. Too many times I notice people acknowledge Cantr does have flaws and immediately they get turned off by the game and just drop it, seriously? Anyways it's nice to see someone who can love a game and see it's flaws and not immediately give up on it.
