Well, we certainly don't have any business forcing good, established "trashy novel authors" to switch to questionable "poetic truths" all of a sudden. The best one can do is say: "Here I am, I am such-and-such person and these are my values. What are yours?"

And then happily die for those values as many times as one's luck will permit. At least in the game it's much easier to make such an experiment upon your own self.

If you can avoid becoming emotionally attached to your characters, then the more power to you. If you're like the rest of us that do become emotionally attached to one degree or another, you'll find that ideals (and often reason) go flying out the window in the face of a credible and imminent threat to your character's life.

Not to mention, as I've rambled on probably a hundred times by now. There are ways to introduce evil and conflict into the game without forcing character death upon others via things such as slavery. I know, radical new invention that's never happened on a large scale in the real world, right? :P Some people may choose to make you kill them instead, but now you have at least given them an option to avoid death. You've also given them an opportunity for what could be an interesting story, instead of just cutting theirs short.

I would support "buffs" to violence in the form of making capture, knock-outs, and detainment easier while making killing take more effort - and particularly deliberate effort - via things such as unconsciousness, near-death state, etc.

I DID THIS. Just ask Doug. About 3 years ago i had a little empire that needed labor but no money to pay for it. So i went to the town over and began taking slaves with a couple of friends. Things were going fine as people were lured to my characters town with the prospect of a high paying job. Except for one freaking person.

When we decided to kidnap this person and take over the town the kidnapee resisted and kept turning the freaking vehicle around. Unfortunately that was when one of Dougs characters showed up and he proceeded to radio the whole damn universe about the attack. Less than a day later one of my ingame friends was killed even though we had not killed one person and 9 people were outside my town and tried to kill me. Not to mention some OOC BS that I later confirmed happened.

Slavery does not work in Cantr. I say this not out of spite for what occurred. I ended up getting revenge on all the people that tried to kill me. But regardless I learned a valuable lesson that day: take no prisoners. This lesson still applies today.

^Bullllllshit lol. You didn't kill Doug's character until like a year ago. And from what I recall it was because Doug was rebelling against you. You got your facts screwed up again brother. BTW, you left your phone here again.

Hey yugo, good to see you back on the forums. May be you never left. Anyway, I am waiting to see how long it takes you to annoy the admin and you get kicked out yet again.

He's playing the game again Rumaan. He denies it, but he's been posting on the message boards again and I know of other information that confirms it. So if you liked him, enjoy. If you hate him, don't worry he'll slip up at one point or another.

I had one of the best playing experiences with him, even though my char eventually got killed by his (and I am pretty sure by committing a CRB). But then my char was plotting to seize power from his and one of them had to get killed.
