-cough- I mean, Oh, right…
(That wasn't originally intentional.)
I was speaking of emotes up there, forgetting about actual speech because I'm super intelligent like that.

Not a huge deal, but I think most of my chars would just write them off as a liar or yet another delusional or insane person and try to avoid the subject...though I've had one or two that would probably keep asking them increasingly detailed questions about their past just to mess with them.

By putting your char in jail until you admit you are lying? Writing your char off as insane and treating him as such? Depends on the backstory, but most don't wash with me. Deal with it?gejyspa wrote: There is absolutely NOTHING WRONG WITH BACKSTORIES that don't contradict established histories. Deal with it!
Doug R. wrote:Well, the PD's been telling folks that backstories are for character development only, not for public expression. Cantr has a clear, recorded history that your newspawn has no place in since they didn't exist until a second ago. Any backstory is, by rule then, fictitious.
Telling them that you came from the last town over is a lie, because it can be proven as such. If you want to be believed, spawn and immediately leave. That will give your made up stories more weight in the next town.

Let them martyr my character. My characters welcome it, because they know the truth, and the rest of the world is too blind to see what's in front of their very eyes, and are deluded into thinking a twenty year old pops into existence.
