One character ended up with food in his starting spot. I just started him about an hour ago, and set him on a 5 hr timer to get said food. xD

Have you tried farming or gathering something or you just check for food lying on a ground?

... or asking if anyone has a little spare food, or tried to work for food?

Whatever do you mean? One char is having ever so much fun on a horse. And no I know who you plays please. *she grins*

Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors

They should make it so that people couldn't travel on their first day since it's rarely necessary. It's kinda silly that Cantr is a society simulator but new people don't rely on other people at all. I like FTO better in that aspect. People can't prepare their own food or travel until they're old enough, so they have to rely on the community they're born into. Although in Cantr where people spawn without being expected or wanted, people might be in trouble if the community doesn't need them.

Some chars will give you anything if you ask nice enough. :P

One of my chars has a crossbow, and she didn't even ask for it.

Food is cheap and easy to get in most places, so people are likely to be ready to share.

Right, I'll remember that. The thing is, though, in one of the places my character started, I couldn't harvest food, I there were no stores of food, and only 2 other people were there, so I was near on doomed if I didn't travel.

Takes a long time for your chars to starve. You could A wait the others out and hope they die and you get all their stuff, B one will wake up and know how to get food (most chars dont just sit and starve, learned this the hard way) C do what you did and chance the road.

Alright, I'll experiment with that knowledge a bit. I just remember last time I tried playing, my computer died shortly after and my characters starved over the course of about 2 weeks. >.>

So, no, it's not instantaneous, but I'd still like to learn how to find food (on my own) before they do starve.
