People are just making the game boring for themselves. :/ We need a small island of us forumgoers and I swear, that'd be the funnest thing ever.

Re: Playing more.. worldchanging characters?
I think I'm making the game pretty interesting to be honest. I've been involved in 3 wars, staged off pirate attacks, rescued people from pirates, and all the while laid down the foundations of a new civilization.
A civilization you may be familiar with Cantrfreak.

I did it cuz I hate you.

Just give me time....
Noteworthy characters take time and development, and I've only been back for two months.

Out of curiosity, what do you have against criminals?
If you have something OOCly against them, then I suspect it's because you've met some poorly RPed criminals in your time. Not all of 'em a bad.

No it has nothing to do with poorly role played criminals. I just hate them ruining lives while they can stir up things as well in a good way. And that makes it more fun for everyone.

This has been a problem in Cantr for a long time, and is exactly why I hate pirates so much.Arenti wrote:No it has nothing to do with poorly role played criminals. I just hate them ruining lives while they can stir up things as well in a good way. And that makes it more fun for everyone.
Alot of players would much rather play the villain than the hero (I think it's part of the modern obsession with "bad-boy" heroes), despite the fact that to have a good villain you need to have strong leaders and active towns. But it's much harder to play a non-violent world changer, so people take the easy option. And that easy-option leads to people quitting the game, making it worse for everyone. Yay!

Luckily I don't like to play this easy way. I'm taking the hard way.
Important for a leader is that he or she shouldn't wait for others to say what they want or what they would like to do in their life. Most new spawns or also older chars will stay quiet unsure of what to do.

How do you find the time to play so many characters? I hardly get time to play two characters properly. One has major plans for a bunch of towns. The other is bringing back a town to its past glory and has plans for expansion. But all the others are "potato farmers" and one is a traveler (I have only 12 chars).
But I do find that people do not challenge each other much. In all the towns I have been I would guess there are no more than two to three people who are interested in running even a town and wresting power from one another and in most cases it is just the town leader. In those few cases, instead of competing they just share the power. And as Cantr has so many towns each player can have at least one or two chars who are town leaders and the rest can be just potato farmers. I think Cantr would be more interesting if there were fewer towns and if the max character limit was reduced to something between 5 and 10.
Yes its a bit time consuming and I rather have less chars but thats not really an option for me as all my chars are in a relationship and I don't want to kill chars of mine. And I also don't give most of my chars as much attention as I want to.

Re: Playing more.. worldchanging characters?
While I do have the interest and "knowledge" to play great leaders, I don't. I don't think I will have the kind of time needed to devote to my characters for them to be consequent and inspiring enough to run something large.
I do have an owner of a small business with two employees though, that's more to my liking. Deciding on everyday business in a small scale, making sure everyone has work to do - and get rewarded enough to stay, figuring out wich dead town to loot for riches next and so on...

And thats what most people is holding back. But who says you have to lead alone?

Nah it's not like that. Your char is the leader and will make the important decisions but you have a few others who want to help you with things.

True power is in delegation. No one character can do everything him/herself. But you can have control and a bunch of others helping you carry out your dreams. Even in hte real world, think about those in higher power. They make decisions, mostly. Others do the actual "work".
So, Why not strive for greatness?!

I don't see myself having that time. Even if you delegate, you need to be awake most of the time to make quick desicions. It's not for me at the moment.
