Re: In Game Relationships
I just can't take cantr that far. I did cancel my account the first time over the loss of a friend, that just sapped my will to play. I think I might have a character that could develop a relationship eventually, but I am not sure if I want it to or not...

Re: In Game Relationships
I had several characters that had some amazing relationships from my original account. To this day I still miss some of those interactions!
No one from my current batch of characters is in one though. For once I went with 15 females, whereas in the past I normally had a pretty even split. None of the 15 have found anyone that are interesting enough to think about getting involved with other than being a neighbor or business partner. Of course, they are also young.

I have one that picked her mate within hours of being spawned. I would have probably quit the game if it wasnt for him.
good job player, you know who you are.
The others it took time. They have been picked up starving, smacked, happened upon ect... one who would have eaten his arm off to keep from having a mate, but dammit she is just so cute.

I wonder who that is. Must be a very special player.

Erik had a moment when he was alone with Neadell that was oddly sentimental but that's about it. Did feel a little bad leaving Jaina as she was when Twirdy fell but only because Twirdy broke down a big emotional wall on Jaina... probably making it even bigger upon his death.

Re: In Game Relationships
I've only ever had 3 chars in relationships and I never became significantly attached to my char's feelings in that way.
At the moment I don't believe I have any chars in a relationship, though one is iffy.

Re: In Game Relationships
I have several chars in relationships, but only one of them made -me- cry, when her man suddenly died, and that's because I'm really attached to this char. Neither my char, nor I (as player), have been the same since then. And, after that, I said "never more", so now I can feel some sadness when their relationships are over, but not that way anymore.

Re: In Game Relationships
Oh damn, we have a whole thread of people talking about using OOC influences in regards to their characters actions. Banned, all of ya.

Seriously though, I agree a lot with what has been said, and cannot fault people for not wanting more intimate or romantic relationships if they know the people on the other end. Me personally though, I don't really care if I know or don't know, as I play my characters to whatever extreme they find themselves in, regardless of what situation it may be, relationship or otherwise. The ONLY time I have issues with knowing the people behind my characters actions (and when they know mine) are when they try and influence me to change something to suit them. Of course...each person has quickly found out that I just don't care :)
Haha, now I feel special!!
Speaking of that, once Cantr goes back to being live...a certain char is gonna be more awake!

I would also agree with Doug -- I really prefer not to know who is on the other end, or they don't know me. It makes things awkward sometimes, even if the relationship isn't at all sexual. Just like my characters emotions sometimes leak onto me, I am sorry but there are times when MY emotions leak into my characters and this is especially true if I dislike the player. lol so I try not to know who I'm playing with in general until after their death or mine.

ie: seconded. I try not to discuss my characters out of game, unless it's after the fact, mainly because I have been burned by PM harrassment from an 'enemy' once. As for the romantic or otherwise personal relationships, doesn't matter to me in the slightest. I've had ladies and gentlemen try to get intimate, and responded in-kind as appropriate.

though her son didn't like it so much when she took a new husband, we'll just put it that way.
I really miss that family.
In a way I guess this goes with the conversation. When I unsub'd because of the major stuff going on in my life last time, I cried for SEVERAL of my characters deaths but I think Sean the most...I knew I would miss him and his mom and the girl he loved and the region. I knew it would never be the same even when I came back...and it isn't and I still miss that whole beautiful dynamic.
I am still with you - I come in and snoop through the posts..finding ones like these make my day. I miss Eve and Sierra the most. Such relationships those two had. John, Sean, Mandingo, Devon.
Thanks for the mention!
