I once met a girl who had lost an arm due to an attack by a crazy guy in the desert. We took her home with us and the mushrooms healed her and her arm grew back.

:D  See I don't really have a problem with that. As no one should be forced to play without an arm because someone else role played cutting of the arm of your char.

a pair of tiny sparking diamonds in silver settings, which go through each earlobe (two earlobes)
a pair of leather shoes ... (two feet)
a pair of bracers covered in a dense layer of overlapping feathers (two wrists)
a pair of bell-bottom leg warmers ... (two legs)
a pair of thick hemp gloves ... (two hands)
a pair of spectacles with a sturdy iron frame ... (two eyes)
a strip of hemp cloth tied around the head to cover both eyes (one head, two eyes)

enough "twos" for you? :)

And there are plenty of these, I just put here an example per body part. There are also references to "the upper torso" etc, so cantrians shouldn't have more than one of those either.

Note: Depending on what country/part of the country your are from a "pair" can mean up to 4. I know that sounds kind of retarded but it is true. And I wasn't talking about what it said AFTER the clothes were put on... however good argument.

Not to mention that having a pair of boots STILL doesn't mean the rest of legs don't have boots. I'd assume that having four feet and a pair of shoes still means four shoes... or eight or 16.

And if we wish to argument otherwise or on the thought of material used then these freak people will either A) Have to deal with only having a couple feet/hands/ears/whatever "clothed" or B) People can assume each foot/hand/whatever is covered. (The former being the most likely based on community)

Most of these characters are going to be slain by RP purists anyway so I say let them have their fun while they can.

And I like Notsure's example! XD Probably a W- <comment removed cause I said I be "nicer" to people>

Just here to say my next creation will be a man with several vaginas. And three balls. No penis.

What I DID have a problem with in this instance is not that the character believes himself to be going through these portals and speaking to the dead but that the player through his rp is trying to "force" us to see it as well.

"You see a portal", "You see a man step through a hole in the air".."You see the man disappear" "You see the man return through another hold where there was nothing there before"

This is forcing others to "see" what his character "believes" when it is not something that exists in the game and that is the problem here. Along with (in my opinion) Knowledge this character had that there isn't any way he should have.

Sounds like a David Icke kind of thing going on. Having read too much of that Loon's work myself, could it not be that there is a wave/particle duality happening, where although the silly arms legs, portal thing, may be occuring, it is occuring outside of the perceptions of most people. Has no-one reacted to this going on? Is it complete ignorance of it, or are some people saying "How did he do that?" "What's happening?" etc, while some people simply see a regular man?

Well the portal thing NO ONE should be addressing IC. That is a violation of the CRB as there is no magic in Cantr.

The fact that some people would ignore a characters differences is no different then any other situation. I, for one, ignore LOTS of details. I know characters to drop details frivolously, I ignore them as if such things did not happen.

My characters respond to the basic gestures of characters and their limitations based on what my character "could" see within my own thoughts on what is or isn't within the Cantr world.

Multiple limbs would be no different. There would be no mention of how "oddly" or "strange" the man looked but more that the man, in general, was simply odd. AND without a very hands on comment from PD we have to assume his behavior is "okay" and this conversation sorta moot.

Is it magic though? It's having no effect other than a discriptive pyrotechnic. The rules in the wiki state there is no magic in the game, but people can believe what they like, so, by definition, they're informing you that no-one's going to be casting a fireball or selling you a cloak of flight as it's outside of the game's paramaters.

It's as you say about not seeing it, it's the same as real life, two people can be stood next to each other, one of them could see a ghost, the other wouldn't.

It sounds like the player is alluding to something quantum rather than magical.

Sounds like you are splitting hairs, FreerangeBean.

A "portal" is otherwise considered "magic" by a good 99% of people on the planet we live on. The only way it ISN'T would require machines and/or POWERS, magic again, that don't exist in Cantr anyway.

Not to mention that alluding to the portal would not be emoting *there is a portal* but instead emoting the character hopping about or running around or even just "disappearing" (Hide behind buildings, whatever) then SAYING he used portals.

When you emote, as others have said, you are stating a fact.

Again, the portal thing is a BIG "no-no" within the rules that Cantr has. Staff and players have already deemed "portals" as magic thus it is a CRB.

Like I've been saying, though, my query is about multiple limbs and "freaks". What "lines" are or aren't so that so that if this problem pokes itself up again, staff and other players can point to the spot where the behavior isn't "okay". OTHERWISE, people need to simply deal with these "weirdos" in game.

I would like to STILL see what PD has to say on multiple limbs, however.

Cantr chars are human. Any extra limbs beyond the two arms and legs they have are figments of their imagination.

But now I'm not happy.

People can have less limbs and/or GROW THEM BACK (like magic) but not even ONE or TWO extra limbs?

People can't have extra limbs? One... two? A birth defect making them have an extra ear or eyeball? Hell... can I have them have no face? I'll emote like the character is a deaf-mute... and add the fact this is because he/she ain't got no face. ALTHOUGH, how would they eat? Hmm... that's assumed to be through the mouth. Maybe they stick the potatoes up their butt when no one is looking... MAYBE that's their mouth!

I have a male character with no genitalia. He has a small hole, similar to the female of our own species, which he uses to urinate... if I decide to RP such a thing. Am I breaking the CR? He's not "human" by the standards, nor is he technically male, that would be set forth. Clearly I've done something rule-shattering with this character. Not to mention that almost NO ONE in Cantr pees or shits... which makes them not human... and a WONDER where the hell all the food went.

And, before language people start complaining, NOT having bilinguals IS built into the mechanics. Characters spawn in own language but NOTHING says "They are perfect humans with no flaws or disfigurements... not excluding an extra limb or two."

While I admit the "example at hand" is an extreme, as my ramblings just a second ago, I find this a bit annoying. ESPECIALLY sense it's not built into the game mechanics. There isn't much mention, that I can recall, that Cantr "is like earth" or that Cantrinians "are human". Isn't that all assumption?

And Barbaric, I wanted the RULE that is on-site. I want the restriction in a set of... come to think on it.

The CRB needs, as I've said with joo or he with me (don't remember exactly but it was probably him to me) a break down. CLEAR rules need be put somewhere about how many limbs a character can have and how limiting other characters/players will be and/or are. Including the language "issue", number of limbs "allotted" and "extents" to which magic is "accepted" where others are not and a BUNCH of other things that are "shady".

tl;dr version: WTF That's total BS!

I believe you forgot the part about the "believable medical condition". An extra arm might be okay, but rather as a semi-useless appendage than a means of wielding three sabres at the same time. As a rule of thumb, anything that has occured in real life, should be okay in game too.

I wouldn't say I'm splitting hairs.

You can't build solar panels in the game, but engines have functioned in the past without expendable fuel use.

"Portals" are actually a natural occurence according to Relativity. Moreover, our world couldn't exist without them, so it's unrealistic to assume they wouldn't exist in Cantr.

(Now I'm splitting hairs) ;)

I have to admit an Interest here as I've met the character I imagine you're talking about. And when I was travelling with him and staying in another town, a newspawn arrived who claimed to have been a scientist from another world using quantum machines to teleport and was looking for a way back home. This character accepted that the Multi-limbic fellow was able to travel to other places and that it was scientifically possible.
