In one small town, I keep comatose characters alive by feeding them. They are useless in themselves, but I assume that their presence helps the town in the spawning lottery. (My small town character is a leader, so it makes sense IG. Other characters I play don't bother.) It makes sense to reward towns for being good places to live (to the extent that high population is an indicator), but the incentive can become perverse too.

I don't know about that, because some of them can be easily persuaded if the cause gives their lost life purpose. I mean how many people are suffering from loss of a loved one? They could be pulled into a cause simply because they have no direction in life anymore.

I agree... Many Chars just need a chance for a purpose in life...

Oh for sure! But I know just as many who would tell a recruiter where to shove it, as I do people who need the direction at 50+.

Anyways, it was just a funny comment. Related to real life oldbies. Stubborness. Etc.

Of course a good leader for a town helps a lot in getting more people in that town. But most towns and groups have only one real leader and if this person dies sometimes the entire town falls apart.

I'm in a town that...geez...has a ton of newspawns, we need a donation box for them in that town.

"Deposit one newspawn here for shipment to a town that can handle it."

My advice is to go into towns and try recruit people, and if that doesn't work try try and try again!

I've actually seen a couple of towns have success recruiting over the radio. If there's a bored worker stuck inside feeling neglected and he hears there's a place just two locations over that not only wants people but is offering them better pay for more interesting jobs, I think he's much more likely to go for that, then he would be about spending most of a year walking to a place based on an old note or something.

That's true, I doubt hardly anyone reacts on a note in a town asking for people to work for them. It hardly even works if the town people are in offers jobs to new spawns and of course anyone else who wants to work, and they place a note. My char jsut has to ask every day if someone wants to work to earn something. That really works.

Just like the real world...people are lazy, and don't like to find things out on their own, you gotta tell them...over and over again.

Indeed but I think sometimes people just don't realize they can work for the town to earn things.

I'm still sad if I see that my chars who can offer new spawns a very good life get hardly one new spawn in 20 days. And that towns who don't care about them get many.
