Cantr II is not currently available. How bad is it?

General out-of-character discussion among players of Cantr II.

Does the server work the way you think it should?

Not at all! I'll quit this game if the problem is not solved now!

I hate it, but I love the game so much so I'll probably stay anyway.

I stated everyone should or everyone shouldn't. All or nothing. No way out of it by paying per month. If someone gets out of it by paying per month, then it's not everyone.

I realize that money shouldn't be able to give a person an advantage in the actual game, but no ads makes sense. Money should be able to do something.

But yeah, we'd need more ads to begin with. Nick said something good.

Cantr does need more money. Although I'm not gonna pay if its like $5 dollars a month or something...

So you should have to pay for the game itself?

..haha

Or nobody pays, and we continue with the current ad revenue/donations system, but with more and better-placed ads.

my question to the admins was: is it possible to move on some better server...
let they answer the question, then we can talk about the money...

and why finance summary hasn't been updated since May 2006?

I wouldn't mind having an ad on every page, just as long as they're not too irritating and no pop-ups. And it's a common custom that people can pay to disable ads. I would make sense. Everything goes just as long as playing itself doesn't cost money.

Animated is right. If its going to cost an obscene amount to switch to a faster server, it may not be possible to raise enough money.

Animated is good. But a two-frame animation that's blinking and causing epilepsy is not.

Cantr was working pretty good and fast all today but now it started crashing then... I should just go to bed and be happy I've managed to play so much today.

The point is it was working very well. And I don't believe player numbers have increased much. If anything, they've declined. Anyone remember 90 people in Seatown Forest? And that was just outside!

So, surely the question should be: what is causing the lag? Yes, the new production menu must be pretty heavy, but then it saves a phenomenal number of page clicks. So probably not that. Any other functionality that is particularly heavy on the server? I'm betting animals for one. The server may well do more processing related to animals that people hardly ever see (because there are hardly any alive awake people left on those islands), than it does processing related to people themselves. What else?

There is also a window between about 6pm and 12pm GMT where I've noticed lag. If I manage to play after that I experience very little. Is it possible to strip that window of all possible server processing that might be shifted to some other time of the day, including any daily processing, tiredness recovery, eating, animal births or travelling....everthing?

As for premium accounts, I can pay by credit card but have no access to Paypal at all where I am. So if it's Paypal only, I'm afraid that's it for me.
