I've only ever lost one character: Samuel Taler. My first character, who even-so lived into his 40's or 50's I think. He was an anarchist and an aspiring story-teller who had spent a couple of decades building roads in the desert between Klojt and Olip. But when he took the LONG longboat trip to get sand for Doryiskom with a couple of other people, 4 in total I believe, (over-loaded small water-craft on the ocean for the lose - the trip took probably a Real-Life Month), they decided to send one person back with the boat and the sand, while the others would niavely venture to a nearby forest to gather the wood for a second boat and hopefully cut everyone's travel-time in half. There was political turmoil in that area, and a huge ongoing debate about babies in-game and out. The original leader of the forest deleted out of exasperation I believe (the now illegal baby was his & his wife's). His successor used my character as a scape-goat and coveted his x-bow. My character was a serious black sheep in this town due to his inability to avoid an argument, and his unwillingness to keep his nose out of politics, so he had no allies and many probably cheered his fate no doubt. He ended up being dragged into a building and killed by his own crossbow after the new leader reneged on his promise to release him. A fitting way for an anarchist to go. I wonder if the autobiography he wrote shortly before their killing-strike is still wandering around the area?

I only have 6 characters and he was the only one I've lost. I've been playing for years (day 200 or so). I don't shun evil or wickedness in my characters, but none of them are suicidal in their vices.

High Priestess Samantha Mayer was killed by the Barons while loading up gas and limestone to deliver to the next town which was to be used (hopefully) to build weapons to man the army being raised against the Barons. She had successfully led an evacuation of her town. I would like to think she saved quite a few lives. She and Junsei were holding down the town, gathering as much fuel as possible to send down the road.

One morning I logged in to apply the final load to the bike cart, sabotage all of the town's machinery, and leave town to meet the army, only to find she had been hacked down in her sleep by the invading Barons...

Man I really miss those guys! :D They made life so interesting and were the primary motivator for forming most of the interlocation interactions in that region at the time.

To Wichita: Don't worry, others have taken their place. Interlocation interactions continue to thrive because of them.

To glitterdown: It was not the father of the illegal baby that died (as that was mine, and he's still alive - still mourns the loss of his non-existent son, or at least I do lol) Mine was almost killed for holding the key to the building that they wanted to move yours to. He was against the killing, but could do nothing to stop it. (His wife was in the throes of committing suicide, so he had other things to worry about anyways - luckily he was able to stop her, though she died some years later anyways.)

Over several years of intermittent playing, I've lost too many characters to count.
At least 30.

But the most recent were from my last account. The ones I remember were:
Udo Koch - Resident of Plaekur - Died while erraticly building as many rooms as possible to his home.
Mark Astrup - Traveller - Died in Blojt (I think) while planning to sail across the ocean yet again on his longboat Flizzle.
John Kunst - Guard Captain of Silver Forest - Died while... umm... I'm not sure...
Nils Epend - Soldier of the Zuzi Empire - Died while taking over a town for the Zuzi Empire.
Commodore Alec Ket - Pirate - Died while in a town whose name I forgot. It was near Xiria. Alec was a man of many names and faces, and had evaded the law and countless angry citizens numerous times. In the end, he changed his name to James Carther, in order to hide himself from the law. By far my favorite character.

I had many more on that last account, but those are the ones I remember. All of them dies from heart attacks while I was away at summer camp (I forgot to put my account on leave >.<)
All of my endings are waiting to begin.
