You know, with my 15 around 50 years old characters, I could possibly tip the scale and create war...but I've been more interested in a successful town.
About inventions..there are still many things to be made but the Cantr characters just aren't advanced enough to do, such as some instruments, gardens, oil producing, road improving, ice cream...
Now, let's say a nation is created, with its own currency!...maybe in another 100 years or so.

As per recent experience, Joshua, age doesn't indicate an aweful lot and War brings back excessive wealth.
