I've seen lots of people with animal scars in their description, and I think it's sorta silly and melodramatic. I mean, yeah, I guess being bitten by a wolf once was a really cool and noteworthy adventure worthy of being memorialized in your character description... ???

Yes. It is. And the reason for that is, is that it gives a little history behind the character, because we all know no one will actually ask a character about their past unless its to point out possible logical fallacies. It's called RP.

Getting attacked by an animal just seems awfully mundane to me unless you almost died or something. I wouldn't do it personally, but maybe that's just my personal preference.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
I'll describe animal attacks in a character description if they're significant - ie, I had a character once who ended up mauled by animals over a couple days and traveled across a (mostly) empty continent at 90% damage for a year or two until they stumbled into a populated town willing to help them. Not for a single bite that does 20% damage past the shield, though. That happens so often, and is almost immediately healed afterwards anyway.
I'll do the same for wounds inflicted by weapons - but I'm more likely to describe significant wounds like that using amputations and stuff.

Yeah I pretty much only bother adding scars if there's a story worth telling behind them.

With the personal hygiene regime of most Cantrians, and the foul little balls of muck we must be, it's not surprising that every single injury, no matter the source, becomes a decade spanning scar.

But such an elegant scar, winding thinly - without damaging - around somebody's eye, making them look mysterious and dangerous instead of crippled and disgusting.

Now I'm just picturing the following conversation:
Curious Newspawn: Where did you get that cool scar, Badass?
Badass Idiot: *looks stoicly at Curious Newspawn and refuses to answer*
Snarky Friend: He cut himself with a bone knife to try to make himself look badass.
Badass Idiot: *glowers at Snarky Friend*

Scars are cool, especially face scars? I always thought of them as indicators of being too stupid to duck, or clumsy.

This is so OT but even some surgical scars aren't pretty. I had to have a lump removed two years ago and was at least excited for a cantr-esque badass scar. Except it's not badass, or pretty, at all. And it makes me feel like I was attacked with something blobby shaped.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
It's easy enough to get scars in Cantr that nobody should spawn with them. It's a good idea to keep track of animal attacks so you can tell which ones of your characters look like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone, vs the ones with perfect porcelain skin without a single scratch. It gets awkward when your character is in their 80s or very old, and you suddenly start thinking back and can't remember a single incident when they would've been attacked by an animal or even gotten hit while spawning. There's no way of checking every turn report to confirm this.

Hey, I've got some really badass scars IRL, from vicious animal attacks... that is, a housecat.

smh...animal attacks are so frequent and commonplace that documenting every attack with a scar would be akin to tattooing on your body every, single mosquito bite you've ever had...

Besides, if people were to add a scar to their description for every animal attack, where would they find the room for the self inflicted ones later when they felt like they needed more attention?
