Bonus things to plot would be specific events like database crashes, reaching the top 10 on some other site, rule changes (e.g., dynamic naming) etc. to look for correlations. Might also include total characters over time.
Apologies if this data has been posted and discussed elsewhere. If it has, could someone kindly point me to it?
Well all the plaer statistics are already listed. Just log in to cant and go to the bottom of the character selection page and there will be a link to Cantr Statistics that has all the player information.
I looked at that. What I'd like to see is the plot over time, with the addition of active players and new players. I suppose Marketing might already have plotted something like it. If not, it might be handy for Marketing.

Number of unburied people: 2785
Number of corpses that haven't expired or been buried: 2605
Number of expired corpses: 287
Number of people being buried: 1469
Number of burial projects: 1511
Number of people who have been buried: 209573
As you can see, the numbers don't quite add up.
Counting characters buried at sea would require searching which buried people are in locations that are vehicles (boats) and that I think would involve three tables. Would have to think about how to do it most optimally. People can't be buried in land vehicles or in buildings so it could be possible to just search for buried people in locations that are not outside.
Amount of emerald in game: 24683 grams. Assuming I wrote the query correctly. Edit: Hmm, looks like some of the piles have been marked as expired somehow, so the actual amount is 23800. Not a big change.

Aww... guess 200 grams isn't as much as I thought it was then. (for emerald)
There go my OOC bragging rights =P
@Joo - Yeah, right. *points at the little "Powered by phpBB" thing at the bottom* It's outdated and it's phpBB.

I think newbies who never log in after the first time get their characters buried automatically. Also expired corpses might also count as being buried.
I think it's easier to count deaths by date rather than by year, since in Cantr a year is an abstract concept. There are 49425 dead people whose death date wasn't recorded, so those need to be ruled out.
Although this includes deaths from all causes. If you just want deaths from killings, I'll have to do another query.

I would like to know what was the bloodiest year in cantr history.
Death != murder

Most people to get killed by other people in one day was 19 on day 2253. 18 people have been killed on days 1433, 1516, 1532, 1542 and 2632. 17 people were killed on days 1429, 1526 and 1536. 16 people were killed on days 1518, 1527 and 1766. 15 people were killed on days 1461, 1478, 1486, 1513, 1528, 1514, 1531, 1764, 1826 and 1911. Even though they might seem like small numbers compared to other types of deaths, it's still rather depressing.

Armulus Satchula wrote:Total Number of Roads (broken down into road types possibly)
There are 21940 roads out of which
- 20505 paths,
- 693 sand roads,
- 388 paved roads,
- 216 highways and
- 438 expressways,
so surprisingly it looks like that if someone is going to make a highway, they're also likely to improve it further into an expressway.

Only for items that have deterioration state visible (pretty much all items that deteriorate also have it visible except for dead bodies).

I don't remember if someone asked but I searched for most kills by character and by player.
There are 1020 characters who have killed at least one person and they they are divided among 494 players. The busiest killer has offed 17 people, the next busiest 11 people followed closely by the bronze medalist who's killed 10 people.
As for top ten players whose characters have killed the most people:
If you want to know your kill count and ranking, pm with player id.
I think either kills weren't recorded back in the old days or records are purged some time after the killer dies since I know my characters have killed more than 7 people. At least one of them wasn't included at all.
Wiro, killing locations are not really recorded because it only records the location of the character, and when someone dies on a road, the corpse rolls to the beginning of the road. I think I did notice some dead people in location 0, but that's most likely some sort of a bug.
And the other side of the coin:
There are 775 active accounts with dead characters on them. There are 4 active players with over 100 dead characters and 23 more with at least 50 dead characters. The average is 12.6 and the median is 7.
There are 519 active players who have lost at least one character in the hands of a Cantrian. The biggest number is 38, followed by 32 and 26. The average is 3.8 and the median is 2.
By the way, there are just 1450 active accounts, but this means 47% of active players have never lost a character and 64% have never gotten a character killed by a person.
Edit: Decimal fix, thanks Piscator.
