Ooh, ups my battleaxe slipped and you are half dead. Not a big problem

That sounds familiar. Wonder if one of my chars from awhile back met that char.

When something important is going on and the other player involved deserves your very best RP, but due to the way the timing works out you have to keep making crappy low effort speed posts while hiding in a corner at work with a phone you're not even supposed to have.
And I broke my self-imposed rule about not checking Cantr at work. And another one too, though I suppose that last one was really more of a guideline.
Anyway, it's not so much an 'annoyance' as a kind of generally bad, sad feeling that I feel bad and sad about.

This has been a common annoyance for me lately. Not so much checking Cantr at work, but not having the time to give situations and the characters in them the attention they deserve.

I also feel this at times. Often of course the events that require the attention seem to happen right when you can't give it that full attention, and it seems to have happened more than once this week for me.

LittleSoul wrote:What often puzzles me is when a player feels it's necessary to OOC message to the entire group that they made a mistake and their previous post was supposed to be a whisper. It's makes it seem like they expect your character to ignore it when it was clearly said out loud.
Why should that be expected of all the other characters? Why shouldn't that just be dealt with in character like they spoke so loudly by accident everyone could hear (like a group wide overheard whisper)? Even if the 'whisper' is acknowledged in game by other characters most of the time unless you're trying to take over the town or something people don't care, or don't understand the context of whatever your character said so they don't care anyways. If they -are- trying to take over the town, I'm pretty sure no one will care about an OOC message either - they're going to react to that 'whisper'.
So why bother? Seems like a very unnecessary use of OOC messaging to me.
OOC communication is for technical support and guidance among players. If you as a player experience OOC that is being distruptive, please report it to the Players Department.
As a player, I've made some of the mistakes mentioned in this thread. Corrections should be made rplaying since in general, an OOC is often more disruptive than an error. IMO using OOC to correct mistakes is poor roleplay.
There is no 'official' PD stance. We take things on a case by case basis. Some things just cannot be unheard when they affect events in game and often the overheard whisper is reacted to before someone brings it to our attention. Events can no more be undone, than whispers unheard. Characters and their players can choose how they react to those things, or to people who add thoughts to emotes.

I have this minor annoyance where people press enter after finishing their description, causing the quotation marks to appear below their description rather than at the end of this. I'm assuming this is because in many cases, pressing enter submits whatever you wrote. An example:
instead of
This is obviously terribly distracting and very poor roleplay.
"A big man with pretty eyes.

As long as we're posting minor nitpicky things, here's one that's always annoyed me:
Why do people pretend like healing food doesn't heal? It's like... guys. Come on. Why are you having your character ignore the way the world they live in actually works? I know you think it makes you a good RPer or whatever but ignoring Cantreality in favor of some elaborate OOC fantasy only convinces my characters yours is some kind of lunatic or at best has some kind of severe physical disability.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
Unless you're in actual danger of dying, healing instantly is very boring. Generally my characters refuse to eat more than say 500 grams of healing food at a time, unless there's risk of another attack. If they eat all the healing food they're given, it makes them heal too fast, which leaves ghost pains or deformities. Injuries are awesome, they're one of the best parts of Cantr, and I think it would be better if instant healing didn't happen at all. In the past, some regions people couldn't stock up healing foods because they had to constantly be consumed due to animal attacks, so you could gather only slightly more than what you spent / used to heal your friend/a stranger. That felt like a challenge. It made you feel alive. Nowadays almost everybody has so much healing food in stock that getting hurt is completely trivial.

Oh, I agree with all this, just like I wish drinking beer could heal knife wounds IRL, but that's just not the way the world works and it seems a little silly to keep determinedly pretending otherwise.

I'm the same as seko in that I never usually heal instantly, unless it's a battle and my character is shakily slathering honey on wounds in a car down some road with their dead friends all around them.
I'd prefer to heal 2-10 percent an ig hour depending on wound severity. Sometimes I don't use healing food at all.

Lol those characters that walk around wounded forever so they can maximise on sympathy and "get better soon" cards.

On the other hand, though, being in places where animal attacks are frequent and severe, it gets really tiresome when injuries are played with full force, because by the time the character finally heals naturally, they're attacked again, and nothing else can ever happen in that town.
I have the same problem with death... Of course it makes sense to respond to character deaths in a realistic manner. It just seems lately that there's no room for anything else, as all the old sleepers drop like flies. More of an annoyance towards the people dropping than of the people responding, of course...
