*shrugs* I personally believe that, since most players are emotionally connected to their characters, if one of their characters hates yours, that hate could unintentionally be transferred through interactions with another one of their chars- even subconsciously.
At the very least, they're probably more likely to not get along as well with your characters than if they didn't know who you played.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
I don't think most or even many of players will be biased by knowing my characters but there's bound to be some out there that would and I don't rationally want to risk it.
There's also the facts that I don't think I'm an especially good RPer and some of my characters are kind of embarrassing even aside from RP quality.
I don't think people occasionally knowing a character or two of mine will hurt, and I know I've had characters interact with other characters whose players I know (either from figuring things out on the forum or from them telling me in the context of another character) and it's all been fine, but probably something like posting a picture of one of my characters or posting colour palettes that would likely ID me as the player of at least one of my characters would make me feel twitchy when playing.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
In my experience, when someone finds out who my characters are it doesn't cause trouble, but when someone knows my characters and wants to be friends instead of just staying strangers behind usernames, it always goes south. If I speak to a player OOC it's nice because I can't talk about Cantr to anyone I know IRL (they don't get cantr, they don't care, they think it's dumb or a waste of time, etc.), and I need to be able to talk about them sometimes. But if I get too close to a player and they have any one single issue with one of my characters, it turns into a fiasco and they hate me and we argue and we never speak again, or worse, they torment me in-game or take it out on my characters, leaving them without a word or suddenly not liking them anymore, all because I got too close to someone I should have remained acquaintances with. Aside from that I don't mind people asking or guessing who my characters are, I just know I can't get close to them then because I'm setting myself up to be hurt... I like being able to vent or talk to someone about characters I'm particularly proud of, I'm just scared when we talk too much, that they'll eventually get sick of me or my characters and it'll ruin things.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
I got a few of my friends to try out Cantr. One of them is still playing it and another friend actually tried it out with out me knowing about it.
They've never had any issues with my characters when they happened to run into them and I usually don't let others dictate how I should play my characters.
Not even I myself plan their actions. I just go with the flow.

It's kinda sad that usually when I spawn a new character, I have such inspiration to play them but after a few years I start wishing they were dead so I could play someone more interesting. And some characters are interesting if only they met the right people but they're stuck in locations where they don't get to interact with enough people.

This. This X 1000. I have so much excitement and inspiration for a character, but they'll always be in the wrong place, or have the wrong stats, or there won't be any people to fit in with them or make the rp work. So it just doesn't work out, then I wish they'd die so I can start again, or make the newest character that has inspired my imagination.

Agreed...just too lazy to quote both of you.
I have a character whom I love appearance, personality wise, her stats are horrible, but that fits her and she is stuck in ghost ville.

Am I the only one that just rolls with what he gets?

No I pretty much roll with what I get, and I don't kill my characters either. Part of the fun is meeting my characters with everyone else. Sometimes I have basic ideas, but I've never created a spawn with a specific concept of who they will be.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
A lot of my characters turned out somewhere or someway that didn't suit some aspect of what I'd planned for them, so they adapted. The wordy introvert moved out of the busy city to somewhere he could have a proper conversation with people he'd be able to keep track of, the amoral-ish delusional got attached to the town leaders and ended up nearly normal, the extrovert learned to get by with bears and eventually (after like ten years) found a way to get to places with more wakeful people.
Even the one who didn't need anything in particular to make his 'thing' work has changed a fair bit, sometimes slowly and painfully by accident and sometimes by his own choice. The most recent's too young to tell really.
I guess what I'm saying is that if what I planned for my character doesn't match what I get when they spawn, it's not a loss and the character isn't ruined, it just means they're going to have to change who they are or what they're doing in whatever way they sensibly can, which can be interesting in itself. I've never killed a character, and only ever considered it in contexts where the character would consider killing themself (I'm not sure if this is a coincidence but this is something that has applied to all my characters on one island and only my characters on that island :/).

I basically keep all of mine out of spite.. I would never kill one unless I had a very very good reason to, and all but a couple of my characters have lived in the town they spawned in their entire life even if it was dead or horrible things happened to them. I've had characters attempt suicide but more often it's a cry for help.

When I spawned my characters, I tended to have a couple of differing ideas so I could choose the most fitting for where/who I spawned. And none of the ideas were very developed so they could be adjusted easily. Not killed any of mine, though I have been tempted on some occasions with some of them, for different reasons.

I am definitely guilty of some of mine dying that more or less were hopeless. I had one spawn because of people visiting an area, then when they left they didn't take the character with them. The distance from spawning to food was enormous, and they sure enough died before they made it to the food.

Re: Things that annoy or puzzle you about Cantr
One of my characters I started of sort of childish with the idea that if he happened to spawn in a location with some couple who wanted a child, they could adopt him. But he spawned in a location were the first person to talk to him was like "I don't know what a mommy is", with the atmosphere of "oh great, another OOC concept". But one guy explained nicely that he thinks my guy will get to see his mommy again after he dies, and my character just rolled with it. He went through an awkward puberty and doesn't feel quite comfortable in his adult body afterwards. He's constantly worried that he might be ugly now, even though his friend has told him he's handsome.
My next character spawned as a savage in a developed town, and she has always had the potential to learn, but isn't supposed to use words she hasn't heard ingame, and sometimes it's hard to figure out what they mean, especially if they're abstract. She started out childlike but now she is an adult, and sometimes it bothers her that people still treat her like a child.
My next character wanted to make clothes and was lucky enough to spawn in a location that has silk in stock, and also went on a resource run to get cotton. A lot of people died and she gained access to what they left behind. There are resources to make pretty much everything, but it's sort of a remote location so no one ever wants to buy clothing. She just makes them for free to anyone interested because the rare people interested couldn't afford anything if it cost something.
My youngest character also wanted to become a tailor, but isn't a copy of the second youngest one. He's not fragile like the previous one. He also doesn't ask for payment, though. His resources aren't as fine as the previous character's, working with hemp and wool instead of silk and cotton, so his design is more rustic.

I've always rolled with hit, except the time I made 8 characters in a shot and only kept the ones that were spoken to. Think it was only five of the eight. Only one of them is still alive..
