We welcome our new players, no matter the age. Except 32 year olds. They're just pricks sometimes. But seriously, have fun, and look forward to seeing you about the play, in game and on the forums.

I was 15 when I started playing Cantr and I'm 20 now. It was probably more gratifying for me as a 15yo because everything was novel and I had more time to play (college now) and more energy to devote to my characters.

Hello!

This game has some flaws.

old players are pretty cocky. I know everything, I can do everything, I am a lot better than you are. You know what? This might be true, but just shut up :D One can give good advise or one should just shut up.

Then there are players that always want to help. Very kind of them. I'm about to travel. Oh here's a truck with 10k petroleum. What are you going for. I am going to collect resources so I can make iron and steel, I think an axe could help me cut wood. Oh you don't have to travel for that. Here's 5k steel, 5k iron and axe and 10k wood. If you need more, just tell me. Hmm you can't carry that much, here's a key to building 54. It's yours now. Shall I put a window in that?

Supposedly there is an almost unhabbited island. I have one character on its way there. I hope it is unhabbited. In the other towns there is nothing left to do for me.

Is there any chance cantr will get a restart, turn some numbers around and such? Or that new players get a chance of spawning somewhere unhabbited?

Other than that, the game has potential... somewhat :)

EDIT
I forgot two things:

1. I chose a language to spawn my character in, but it seems I spawn in other languages areas with 10/15 characters. Probably because travellers happen to be there? That just stinks.

2. Slavery seems all over the place, which in a game like this to me is ok. But don't force me into playing that. I am human too, I like to play my game too. I have no intention to play a role because you like it. So...

These characters will die... if the surrounding people let them.

80% of the game is uninhabited, and you're welcome to explore all of it. There are even a lot of locations completely unchanged, and there are a lot more challenges to be had if you know where to look. Personally I really enjoyed the challenge of getting a horse on several of my characters. They are great for exploring the unknown.

Yes they are. This is why I'm a pirate. There are dissatisfied young people everywhere, so make some friends, break some locks, and start having fun your own way.

You can read my mind, now spawn me in that 80%. :)

Why break locks, to play with someone elses game wealth?

In the majority of cases, "someone else" is long dead.

What's wrong with stealing? If you don't want to steal, though, you can salvage. Plenty of legitimately abandoned stuff around, but if old people find you taking it, they'll call you a thief and then take it for themselves.

I think you do not see my point, or you are just trolling me. This could be a great survival game.

Sure, the survival aspect can be fun, but it's trivial not to die once you have a food supply and a building to stay away from animal attacks. I'm more interested in the social aspect of things. Personal preference, though.

This thread might be more appropriate for this sort of discussion.

Yeah, Cronester, I'm sure you'll discover it for yourself soon enough but there's some sometimes funny, sometimes not too funny friction between the older and younger characters in the game. There is lots, and I mean lots of wealth in this game (go take a peek at the statistics thread sometimes for an idea of just how much) most of it inherited by older characters, and then the younger folks come along with nothing of their own and get frustrated when older people are just sitting on everything and letting it rust. It's the RL 1% drama all over again in Cantr. :P

Oh, but this, Kyriel's right.

The game desperately needs a "spawn me somewhere in the wilderness" option. It has been repeatedly asked for and has to be one of the most popular spawning suggestions. Horses are great though, they can go on paths and you can have someone drop you off by ship. There are tons of sailors that would love some company. If you want a "fresh" challenge you could always let the horse die by "accident". Keep in mind that the animals in this game are notorious for killing unprepared travellers. Most people forget this, because civilised towns don't have this problem.

Yeah, it's be hard to resist not breaking my five character rule, if that was a possibility. Though on the other hand, people are spread out so thin as it is, and there's so many sad little 'towns' or two or three people just standing around. A complete wilderness might be interesting just for a pure simmer char, but human interaction is such a big part of the game, I could see it getting old fast.
