Some of mine do that pretty regularly. I'm just waiting for them to do it without realising someone is in the room. hehe

Since I got db access a while back and I was bored this morning, here are some clothing stats:

The most common clothing worn:

Code: Select all

People   Cloth name
2046   hemp trousers
1726   simple hide pants
1588   simple hide moccasins
1447   loin cloth
1207   simple hide tunic
1171   hemp tunic
1169   leather pants
1068   leather boots
1055   bone ring
963   bone earrings
953   leather shoes
943   hide bikini
855   fur hat
837   fur loin cloth
833   primitive fur cloak
800   bone bracelet
718   simple hide dress

I'm personally surprised by loin cloth not being the most common article. Maybe Cantrians are starting to be civilized.

The least common clothing worn:

By only 1 person:
gold ring with small emerald
primitive emerald pendant
gold ring with emerald and diamonds
simple glass bead bracelet
large ruby gold ring
fur coat
silk blindfold
emerald and diamond flower ring
haori
gold ring with a large emerald

By 2 people:
ivory nose spike
flat cap
hakama
silver emerald necklace
silver turquoise ring
gold turquoise ring
gold crown

By 3 people:
oilskin trousers
cummerbund
iron monacle (sic)
cotton pinafore
sou'wester

By 4 people:
golden pearl ring
beaded macramé belt
long fur coat
spiked collar
silk pinafore
hemp blindfold
silk kimono
crown of lavender
gold coin anklet

By 5 people:
ivory figurine necklace
silver chitin bracelet
oilskin jacket
canvas sneakers
gold diamond necklace
simple glay bead bracelet
silk chiffon negligee
diamond and silver stud earrings

Clothing that are currently manufacturable but aren't worn by anybody:

brooch
golden ruby pendant
gold anklet with rubies
small emerald silver ring
silver ring with a large emerald
large ruby silver ring
cotton blindfold
straitjacket
primitive turquoise pendant
formal wool vest

Hunger stats:

There are 5969 characters out of which 1731 are more or less hungry. 4238 or 71% are not hungry at all and additional 59 people have less than 1% hunger. 49 people have 95% or more hunger, meaning they're going to die unless they get food today. Out of these people, 26 have 100% hunger, which is a bit weird since shouldn't they have died by now?

Why would anyone willingly wear a straight jacket? I have a feeling if straight jackets were forced on people, and actually prevented a person from doing things such as driving, a project, or attacking, it would be worn by more people, albeit not willingly.

Now here's something that has always annoyed me. How can that seriously be the proper name for a piece of clothing?

I gather that it is some attempt to abbreviate "Southwester" and this implies that it was worn by people in the south-west region of some place. However that's really a CRB since that place does not exist in Cantr.

Maybe something like "Oilskin hat" would be more accurate, looking at the description.

joo > I personally wouldn't mind calling it oilskin hat but you can't really fix all the OOC references even if you fixed one item. What about the apachee throwing star or the canvas duffel (comes from the town of Duffel in Germany) or alien names like boerenkool that don't sound like English? Where do you draw the line?

Idriveayugo > Bondage fans? Mentally ill people who are knowledge of their state and want to be prevented from hurting themselves or others? But seriously, a player could very well have their character act unwilling, yet agree to wearing a straitjacket for sake of rp. Just like some people are already wearing blindfolds, it doesn't filter out their events or anything but they rp like they couldn't see. It's a visual cue to other players. I don't think that Cantr will ever get actual restraining of people, maybe because some players would be more upset about their character not being able to do anything than just being locked in a building, and it would also remove the untouchability of the inventory of a living person.

And it's strait, not straight. Strait originally means a narrow channel of water. Straight is a misspelling.

I just think that this is going a step too far. Most people know what a duffel is, but this just looks too out of place.

The name probably originates form the Dutch ('zuidwester'). It refers to the direction where most rainstorms come from in the North Sea region. Sailors and fishermen typically used it to protect them from those rainstorms.

One can imagine a similar origin within the Cantr world.

By the way, 'boerenkool' is dutch also, it translates as (curly) kail.
I think ...

I've always despised the inclusion of the Apache throwing star, and have advocated it's removal since I first noticed it.

Anyway, I'd like to see a break-down of skills. How many people have maxed out their skills? What's the most common skill level for each skill? You could make graphs.

Quite many people have maxed out their skills. I didn't check how many people have maxed at least one skill or how many maxed skills individual people have, but here are some stats.

1) % of people who have discovered that particular skill.
2) % of people who have discovered at least 1 skill.

Code: Select all

skill name       Maxed   1)   2)
-------------------------------------------------
Farming          600   12.74   10.52
Fighting         15   0.32   0.26
Building         103   5.0   1.81
Manufacturing    35   2.46   0.61
Hunting          241   4.91   4.22
Foresting        380   11.73   6.66
Phys. strength   147   2.67   2.58
Mining           151   5.97   2.65
Fishing          78   5.95   1.37
Digging          421   11.02   7.38
Collecting       125   4.77   2.19
Drilling         237   8.93   4.15
Gardening        15   3.73   0.26
Burying          9   0.31   0.16
Refining         127   5.37   2.23
Smelting         28   2.45   0.49
Cooking          448   10.87   7.85
Tailoring        256   7.42   4.49
Man. machines    51   2.26   0.89
Man. weapons     199   4.67   3.49
Man. vehicles    37   1.97   0.65
Shipbuilding     52   3.53   0.91
Man. tools       261   5.8   4.57
Carpenting       89   3.08   1.56
-------------------------------------------
All             4105   5.77   3.0

Image

The percentual amount of awkwards ranges from 4% (foresting, farming, cooking) to 11% (fighting), with an average of 6.8%. I would draw the conclusion that fighting is clearly harder to train than other skills. Other skills with a high awkward rate (9%) are burying and refining.

The percentual amount of experts ranges from 37% in farming to 22% in burying with an average of 28.3%, which makes sense since most people farm for their own food and some people don't bother with burying corpses, and also the amount of corpses is limited by the amount of spawnings.

Here's another chart that might be easier to read to see the relative amounts of different skill levels.
Image

In almost every category there are more experts than people with any other skill level. The exceptions are burying, in which skillful, efficient and novice are pretty much equally common, and smelting in which expert, efficient and novice are equally common. In shipbuilding experts and skillfuls are also equally common.

It appears that skill levels are only assigned when the character actually tries the skill (although I assume everyone still has genes from spawning). There are 24 skills (including physical strength but not counting states like hunger) and only 42 people have discovered all of their skills. 5706 people have discovered at least 1 skill. There are 5796 living, approved characters in total, which means 90 lazy people have never worked on a project or tried to hit or drag anyone.

Thank you for clearing that up. I'm sure the severely mentally ill all care about the spelling of their jackets. Maybe that's what put em in the jacket to begin with.

IT'S STRAIT JACKET FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN S T R A I T AHHHH IMA SLIT MY WRISTS
