Don't flatter yourself, I doubt you're popular enough to fill up a 2 gig limit of text.
And sorting is way better in gmail. There are labels and filters, which work much better than folders.
You just seem to be a gmail noob, try it out some more and you'll realise that it's inarguably the best free email out there.

The thing about filters and labels is that you can apply more than one of them to one email. And the 2 gig limit makes it near impossible to fill your account, it's a general rule of thumb never to delete a gmail email.

For instance, you could make a filter putting a "Players" label on anything from the players@cantr.net list, a "GAB" label on emails from gab@cantr.net, and you can make any address ending in @cantr.net get a "cantr" label, as well. So you could view either all GAB emails to search through, or all PD emails to look through, or all staff emails to look through.

Also since gmail is owned by google, it has a handy search function. You can use the search engine to search through all your emails and show you the emails that match those queries.

100? Pshaw. I've got close to a thousand, thanks to all the Gmail accounts I have for various special uses, forwarding to my main account (and with Gmail's spiffy spoofing feature, I can send from them without logging out, too!).

Argh. I was hoping to autoforward all my mail from my yahoo account onto gmail, but it appears one needs to upgrade in order to do that. The pain in the arse is getting SPAM and having this bigarse window pop up when you're on YIM (even after disabling the popup alert window). *shakes fist at Yahoo!*

You can get a nifty little notifier from download.com
It tells you when your gmail has new email, and also you can read the subject line.
Consumes minimal resources, definately a must have for any gmailer.

You can get it direct from Google, too, at http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/. More recently they've released Google Desktop 2 (http://desktop.google.com/), which lets you view and search your Gmail offline (among many, many other things), and Google Talk (http://www.google.com/talk/), which has the Notifier built in.

This is all very interesting, but not at all relevent.

What do the powers that be think of the idea of subscribing to turn reports?
Reality was never my strong point.

I think you're way over-emphasising the labelling feature :) ... Labelling is almost as much work as sorting in folders (and sorting can also be improved with filters). The key is not to sort or label at all :) ... E.g. if you seach on 'gac', you already get all email sent to the GAC, so why filter/label? The search feature of gmail is totally brilliant.

That said, I do use the labels - e.g. mail that I still need to handle, but don't want to keep in my inbox ... But other than that - just archive and search, don't label :) ...
