1. A few of my chars actually seek the precious materials to make jewellery.
One of them because to him, it's plain business opportunities.
Another, because he wants to use a job as a jeweller as a front for another, not-so-legal-in-his-region, business (he managed to gain a building with machines and tools, wanted to trade in fancy weapons and shields, but in his region, trading in iron shields and steel weapons is forbidden).
Another char, a female one, actually works on setting up a legal business involving simple arms trading, and figures jewellery might make both a nice callingcard as well as a possible addition to her income.
And one char has made bone jewellery, both for himself and for others, and is now seeking fancier jewellery to give to someone he's been courting.
Unfortunately, gold, hematite and silver are not available in his region, so he'll have to meet a travelling trader who might have some.
Or settle for one of those leather collars with a diamond, which would still take a while for him to earn the funds for, as there are two places with diamonds that border the region, and both are charging insane prices for their diamonds.

2. One of my chars feels that his simple bone ring is an indication of him working on belonging with someone, and once he can get his hands on two golden or silver rings, it'll become an indication of them actually being a couple.
My other chars with bone rings simply see their bone rings (and earrings) as an esthetic thing, making them look slightly better than when they spawned.

3. For all chars, yes AND no.
It depends on how much value the other players put into the clothing their chars wear.
For example, there's one gay-ish tailor who was encountered by two of my chars, that char has very elaborate descriptions of how he moves around and does stuff.
So, that already started to give a mental image.
And to make sure that that image would be correct, so they wouldn't interact in the wrong way, my chars ended up paying more attention to his outfit.
But most of the time, they barely notice what other chars wear, unless they have reason to remember what someone looks like, such as describing criminals to a representative of the law, for example.

4. Same as above, if other chars are played with elaborate style, then the precious jewellery is part of that char and should be considered.
And most of my chars do see it as the other chars who wear it, looking fancier.
If a char with jewellery is just played the same way a newspawn with nothing would be played, then, well, most of my chars don't care for the jewellery.

5. Iron, except for that one char who's trying to get some fancy jewellery for his love-interest.
My other chars that are interested in the metal will trade for gold if a good opportunity arrises, but they'd rather dig for it themselves.

6. Yes, with the goal of reading up on stuff that I'm not sure already got acted on by my char or others in their environment.
But while I save them, I haven't used them yet.
Well, once, because I was out of minutes and wanted to make sure that the next day I'd respond to something in the right way, rather than just wing it and possibly make a situation go bad for several chars.

7. That varies per char, but as a player I am liking friendly, unselfish chars.
My first char has the same thing, and the first person he met was a friendly, unselfish lady - as it turned out after about five Cantr-years, there was a mutual attraction from the moment my char spawned and said his first things.
My other chars I'm pretty much winging, friendly, unselfish chars of course go down well with them, but at least one of them also happens to be a sucker for bad girls.
Actually, I should have taken that char along in a previous point; this one time he met a lady wearing thigh-highs, a corset, a leather dress and a whip... and he started to challenge her husband on anything he could, from the first moment
Unfortunately for him, it didn't work out, but... well, it was a weakness of that char that I just couldn't pass up on.
He's not a womanizer, but the way some women look just switches his brain off, as a player I was hoping this might lead to some funny moments.
(chances are that if a woman who had such an effect on him actually doesn't turn him down, he wouldn't even know what to do...)

All the characters I've had have never ended up being all that rich, so most of them see full suits of clothing as a bit excessive, decadent and wasteful.

And seeing as "precious" metals aren't really all that useful, I've never really seen how they are to be interesting.

1) Some of my characters have. One character who was caught in a conflict in her early life and went into exile, mistrusts building a home or settling down, so much of her drive goes into clothes and jewelry. She is mining gold right now.

2) Depends on the character. It makes the above charrie feel good and also my ex-MWS charrie would go for jewels if she came across them. Other charries would settle for less.

3) Yes, Comrade Fran thinks Vist's wife is a walking clotheshanger, whereas the charrie in (1) would be more impressed. Several of my charries think town leaders in their seventies who have crossbows but wear no clothes at all are barbarians or else sleepers who haven't really adjusted to the modern world--ie, somehow backward. However, not all my charries would think this.

4) Answered in (3). Some would be impressed, some would consider them "bourgeois" degenerates....depends.

5) Depends on the area, but most likely 500 gold. In some areas, however, this might not apply. Comrade Fran would ideally trade 33.6 grams of iron or 37 grams of steel for every 15 grams of gold for the strategic reserve, though obviously she might limit quantities quite severely.

6) I don't use the emailed summaries but I copy and paste events into long logs for some key characters, though not all 15. Several charries have set phrases allowing for rapid searching of the logs and one even talks to herself from time to time...ie like making a mental note.

7) Depends on the character. Maxen would go for a certain seriousness of soul, Eleanor for fun and and even mild flirting, Olympia for a poetic or lyric fellow spirit, Francesca for a certain kind of ambition that isn't too individualistic...ie to a degree clannish.

My biggest turn-off as player is a lack of genuine drives or emotions, coupled with too much hot air--ie the sort of charries that seem designed to get mention in the roleplaying threads and who are thus too noisy too soon. There is also too much sugar, too little risk-taking, in the game.

1) Have you ever expressly sought jewelry made from precious metal? If so, why?

It depends on the character. Most of my characters don't really care about jewelry, I have one guy who likes to make stuff for his girlfriend, and I have a thief that's pretty much a magpie, but other than that...they don't care.

2) How does wearing jewelry or clothes make your character feel?

They have a holier-than-thou attitude, across the board. Every single one of them is like that.

3) Do your characters try to incorporate the accutraments of other characters into your mental images of these characters, or do you pretty much form your own images without bothering to reference their clothing? (Or do you not form images at all?)

I look at the character descriptions for a basis, but other than that I typically imagine them my own way.

4) How do your characters react to others that are wearing precious metaled jewelry?

They seem to think that they are better than them.

5) If you were offered 500g of gold, or 500g of iron, which would your character take, assuming that your character wanted for nothing? (i.e. was generally content with is life situation, and had no needs left unfilled).

Most of my characters would take the iron, because it's very useful, but my thief would take the gold.

6) Do you save your emailed turn summaries? If so, do you use them?

No.

7) What, in your opinion, is the aspect that would attract your character most to another character? What is your biggest turn-off?

Someone who is a great RPer, very believable, reminds me of someone I know. / Spelling errors, grammatical errors, capitaliation errors, and overal boringness.

Has anyone made any radios? Not to my knowledge. And radios the way they are now seem to be more of a hassle than anything. You have to have someone you trust running it, as whoever's there can make things up or omit things whenever they like and you've no way of knowing anything that goes on.

They're popping up everywhere, trust me. One will be coming to a town near you.

Schme, it's easy for the radio-man to sabotage you, though you could find out easily enough as well if you tried, but why would they do it? You've got to be awfully cunning to make some kind of gain off tampering with communications...

And yes, they are being built in places. They would be built in more, no doubt, if we could get a ship transmitter...

My businessman owns a radio with 2 more in production. One medium, one longest range, and one vehicle.

1) Nope

2) Um, like they're not naked?

3) I didn't understand a word of this question.

4) Typically don't care.

5) Iron. NEXT QUESTION!

6) I save the ones that are important occasions. Like weddings and stuff. Otherwise, nope.

7) I like active characters. One's that I know will answer when I talk to them. Other turn-ons: army cantrians. Dunno why. Turn offs: All lower case typers. Icky.

It's always a plus when they're fun to be around. When you log on and look for stuff they said while you were sleeping.
