In Cantr, I'd rather have a motivated and just police officer, than a strong one.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with this one.

In a situation like that, how is Cantr any different than real life? Isn't it reasonable to expect that the town itself will want strong police officers? Just and motivated doesn't mean much if you're completely incapable of doing your job.

To put things in perspective, if you took your kids down to the lake for the weekend, wouldn't you hope someone had hired a lifeguard who was a good swimmer, rather than just a really nice guy who'd like to help people but unfortunately had never advanced beyond the doggy paddle? (And if the latter, wouldn't you be furious at them for putting your kids in danger?)

Competancy does matter, or at least it should.

No, this was about projects, not combat.

I was not arguing that competency doesn't matter, but that competency is more than just strength or fighting power. It's also motivation, sense of justice, intelligence, etc. etc.

I agree with this. One of my lawman characters has found he is weak with weapons. On the other hand he is very good at talking people down, tactics and lying/bluffing. He's just a competent now, but the people are alive longer and he is more respected because of it.

The herb/flower skill would be very useful to a certain explorer on a certain island. No more will be said.

For a police officer (professional guard, essentially), soldier, or to a degree governmental leader, that isn't true. If you can't subdue the criminals, all the intelligence and justice in the world is useless.

Production skills are going to be disconcerting. Assuming no bugs, I don't see that they'll be a reall problem, once the messages are available. Though they will hurt progress, at least a bit.

No, but it's high on my priority list.

I'm sorry, but it should have been much more than merely "high on your priority list". It should have been done before this was implemented.

Happy now? :)

That's for projects ... I'll look into combat now ...

I most don't like in this change, that before when I farmed carrots, I typed 400 grams, and I was sure that project will end exactly after one day and it will use 100% of that turns. Now, I don't know how to archieve this  I think, that it would be best, if I would see how much of something I can gather in one day.

There isn't a skill change. Their just visible now...

Skills are great in concept... but it doesn't change the fact that they have ruined several of my characters.

You mean that fighting skills are now visible, but I can't see how good/bad my characters are in digging, farming, etc... Oh well, I can learn that after some calculations, but I like to see exact numbers!

You can see how good you are at collecting resources, just click on your smiley face, and it will tell you. And today I finally saw someone increase their fighting skills (even if it was a suicidal newspawn). He was attacking everyone akwardly, and then it became novicely. So go out and attack people like mad to increase your skills, and it doesn't seem to matter how tired you are.

I noticed that if my char working on very old burial project, then there is no skill after clicking on smiley face. Oh, and there is efficiently and skillfully. Which is better? I think that skillfully. Is it right?

If I can provide a full and detailed case for why skills will kill Cantr, will it make a difference?

I would guess not... but I am not going to let this go. This is a terrible, terrible mistake and I will do whatever I can to make others see my perspective. :x
