I'm planning a type of "trial" system that'll be similar to gladiator-type deals.
Stealing it from a short story I read in LA last year haha.

On Hills of Hilloi there's some note about Amazing race, any means possible travel to Blaman mountains. First of all, ripping off a real life idea and calling it with the same name than in the TV show is quite lame, and how could you hold a competition like that if people won't leave at the same moment? And a judge should be sent to the goal ahead...

There was an improvised attempt of baseball on Reniov Mountains but it never developped to an actual game, just hitting a potato or a rock with a billy club.

Rockey. It's... kind of like hockey or soccer, but a lot more like "kick the rock."

Until Jesse lost the rock, of course (or maybe Doni's just pretending he lost it). Then it became "lost pet rock."

Um.

In most of the more playful areas, there seems to be some variety of "throw produce at people." People never throw meat, though. I find that interesting. Perhaps thrown grapes are amusing, but thrown mutton is not?

In Seatown Lakeside, there was a recent proposal for a blood sport, but since the person proposing it was clearly only interested in killing people and not offering any sort of incentive, it died out quickly.

Tribe Blackrock has some training programs that can look like "sport."

And then there are all the other games people play, like "defraud the newspawn," which seems to be rampant. And "grab-and-run," "stealnote," and my personal favorite "hunt down the thief and kill them for 50 grams of potatoes!"

Edit to add: I totally forgot about the Blojtery; I don't know if it ever paid out or not, but that was another amusing one.

Wow, did that ever happen? Notes about that have been around for nearly 30 years...

War Tag was a game with no real object except to confuse the newbies and strangers. The Clans of Olipifirovash Forest used to hit each other with thier low level weapons at 100% and their shields would take the entire damage. People who didn't know what was going on woul djust see everyone hitting each other and no one was really mad. Things like becoming tired, different damage outputs, and no natural healing have not only changed game play, but also changed customs and traditions. We still do it time to time, but not it involves more risk.

TBR still plays a version of War Tag, but they've started to use wasters now.

I would think that such sports would die out for the same reason why the Shakers died out (a religion for which one of the tenents was that sex was wrong, even for reproductive purposes). Both are self destructive and have no means of propogating members in quantity to support themselves.

Well. I think both cultures (The Shakers and the gladiator types) could flourish in Cantr.

With one on one fighting, especially with low level weapons, practically no one dies in cantr. There's no risk of infected wounds, bleeding to death, an unfortunate critical hit (although I have argued for crit. hits to be implemented), so for those who enjoy seeing people beat each other up, as long as they pay their fighters in popcorn, you could see that kind of thing start up easy.

And the Shaker movement would be perfect in a game where you don't reproduce and the only purpose of sex is for RP purposes. In fact, I believe there is already a strong contingent of Cantr Shakers in our player community. All we'd have to do is shift that reasoning onto the characters. :) / :(

You missed the point of the Seatown Lakeside proposal. The proposal was, essentially, for "someone" to hunt down *to the death* the participants.

It was, quite possibly, the stupidest thing ever said in Seatown Lakeside, and they've got Bibbin the Idiot Boy.

agreed.

i recently had a character spawn in Zhift Hills South, i think it was, that had an original game on a note. it was called Beasts and Villagers. i don't remember all of the specifics because my character wasn't interested, but it was probably the most creative form of entertainment i've seen in Cantr.

One of my characters thought of a gambling game (not yet tried in game) where she gives the numbers of 3 keys. You pay to pick a key and try a room inside of the building. If it works on either 3 doors, they get what's inside, be it iron or sand! One of the ideas was that the key doesn't work on either door or it works on one. The other idea was that every key goes to a door, but only one has something good. The other two is something bad.
