What is "grade 3" in Canada, then? The third year of school, age about eight or nine?

I took typing in summer school in between fourth and fifth grades. It was the prerequisite to me being allowed to use the family typewriters (we had several, since Mom had one and my grandparents, both writers and journalists, had a few). Considering my incredible knack for breaking all things mechanical, this wasn't such a bad idea-- Mom should have used the same rule with her sewing machine and saved herself a lot of headache!

Well, some provinces have grade 'primary', which is your first year in elementary school, and that comes before grade 1.
Other provinces have kindergardten (sp?), which is pretty much the same thing.
And other provinces have both senior and junior kindergardten.

So grade 1 could be your second or third year of school depending on what province you live in.
Not including pre-school.

Typing just came naturally to me. Sometimes one of my fingers gets a little excited and jumps in front of another before it is suppose to, but those are the only mistakes I make and comes from spacing off when I type. Also there is always that frequent use of the backspace key which in my opinion should be placed on the home row for easy access. I use it almost every third character and has become a part of my flow of typing.

BTW, anyone else find it funny that 'grammar' is spelled wrong in the title?

:D Also, no question mark.

When my chars meet other chars who speak funny (little to no attention to spelling, punctuation, etc.) they almost always consider them to be very unintelligent and uninteresting and, therefore, don't really interact with them much. As mentioned above, these chars don't usually live very long, anyway.

There have been some exceptions, though. A couple of my chars have some very good friends who wouldn't know a capital from a carrot.

My character's best employee is HORRIBLE with grammar. But good at what he does. I deal with it.

Yeah, I have noticed that as well, but I decided not to whine about it. I'll leave that to you, Nick.

I didn't whine. I noted it's humor. If I was complaining, that would be implying I dislike humor.

A man came to one of my characters "wantin 2 get his limestone bak cuz he had stuff to do and needed it so please give it 2 him when i could....", it went on for a good while, my character just straight up told him he did not understand a word he said and to send someone else to do the business deal. Of my intelligent characters, none find that garbage coherent. If a char wants to RP as a business man to my business man, he just can't take that demand without being insulted. The fella will catch on sooner or later and then he can complete the deal. And from then on he'll talk right, or at least to my character. Problem solved.

Personally, I can't stand people who don't even make the effort to try and use proper grammar.

People who use real life exepressions and other things that make no sense in the game, like "OK" annoy me also.

But there's not much that doesn't annoy me.

I fail to see how "OK" or "okay" is an expression that makes no sense in game. It is a common phrase that is in the dictionary and dates back to the 1800's in use.

I thought I explained this to you OOC in the game, Schme. Okay/Ok is a very common English word that has been used since around 1840. Check out the Oxford English dictionary if you don't believe me.

By the way, you are also contradicting yourself. Your character said -

"Alright, what in the hell does "OK" mean?"

As far as I know, 'hell' doesn't exist in Cantr and is a RL expression. Exactly what you are complaining about

Nitpicking? Goooood
If the subject is "spelling and grammar" doesn't that require a plural?

I'm not going to argue with you, Schme. As I have already said - Check out the Oxford English dictionary if you don't believe me. Or more specifically, this link -

If you want to disagree with the definitive guide to the English language, I suggest you take it up with them.
