I still would rather have even the cartoonish actions than nothing. Straight text just feels kind of emotionless and wooden most of the time. And true meanings can easily become lost, like sarcasm is completely lost without some expressions or description of the attitude, right?

I actually do the back of the head thing in real life, to answer your question Seko. Come to think of it, I actaully do a lot of cartoonish expressons in real life. But then again, I'm usually not entirely representative of my culture (or normal human beings for that matter).
Thanks for posting the animae pic, I am seeing the point you were trying to make about the mental images.

By the way what is it with this putting your hand on the back of your head when you're abashed? Do Japanese people do that in real life too or just the cartoon characters? Since I've never noticed such gesture in Western culture and I wonder where it's coming from.
Umm Seko. I do that IRL and I do that with some of my characters when they do something wrong or stupid. So that comment had to be at me right.
Well as long as you know that the action can be done irl than it shouldn't be a problem right. so no ::sweatdro:: stuff that isnt right anyway.

Maybe the problem is I don't use much expressions at all irl. When we were playing a game in which one says an emotion and others try to express it, (disgust, anger for example) the common joke was that each one of my exaggerated expressions included sticking out my tongue.
Oh, and I can do a little girl laughter. I got a plastic wheel thingy from a cereal package and every time I send it spinning across the room I just gotta giggle. It's a special giggle, can't be expressed with words. No wait, am I drifting a bit?

Remember the childhood. Cherish it. And for god sakes live it when you can.

So far I haven't run into many anime-style emotes, but I have no problem with the whole blinking thing, although it's generally nice to elaborate a bit more than that. And I don't personally do the hand on the back of the head thing, but I know a few people who do. What I find irritating is when people can't be bothered to write out the whole word, and abbreviate the word "you" to "u" and such, or when they can't be bothered to use capitalization or punctuation. And, on a much lesser scale unless they have commited the "crimes" mentioned above, improper use of words like "your" and "you're". *blinks and puts his hand to the back of his head* Did I get a little distracted there?
When it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel is a freight train coming your way, you're living my life.

Whos to say what Cantrians look like? They very well may be cartons. Have you ever seen one?
Just because they do't play your style doesn't mean they have to change to suit you. A life lesson to be larned eh?
