I don't like to think of wrapping myself in evil every time I go to sleep...

I didn't mean "night darkness", I meant physical/mental/soul darkness... like a dark, tainted soul. :)

Don't worry west, night time is not evil... Its a time of comfort more than the day, at least to me. :P

Well, having recently (but just more than four days ago) watched the last of the dinosaurs in Seatown Forest flailing away with his sabre (that's the metal-toothpick thing) while at 80% exhaustion, and begging casual passers-by via private whispers to help him drag--my charries never found out his name--and having entirely failed to discover the Lad Empire with one of my newspawns--does it still exist?--perhaps it's time to revive this thread about government styles.

Any new ideas? How about communalism along the lines of the 19th Century Paris Commune, a mixture of Rights of Man and a sort of idealistic primitive communism, at least in theory.

Really, this is sad. I think Cantr is dying. Even if some people would finally have a chance to get to the top now that the old keyholders have fallen, there wouldn't be any followers for them to lead, because people are too stupid to follow. They just keep farming potatoes and end up being killed by a flock of sheep raving mad.
Actually, this reminds me of the Lord of the Rings. Some jerk Isildur would walk away with the Ring instead of tossing it in the flames, like a newspawn speeding away on a stolen vehicle, holding keys to every building in the city. What will that person do with them? If he/she comes back, they'll drag him/her to jail and cut to pieces. Probably the thief will hold on to them, realizing that even with steel in his/her pockets life is surprisingly hard. So they fall asleep in a desolate location and then some other young traveller pops by years later, picking up everything... Probably at that point no one knows anymore where those things came from. Or where they'll end up. But this is sliding out of topic.
The point is the old world is crumbling. We have to create a new one. But even though I haven't been playing for so long as most of the regular people here, I feel like I was a part of the old world. I'm afraid to create new characters because they couldn't be so unique as the old ones. Knowing how many sleepers there are, I might not bother posting a line of rp right after spawning, or even stating my name. Instead, I'd be farming potatoes, staying invisible and listening. Everyone will think the rest of the people are sleepers and no one starts a conversation. :?

I've noticed alot of the old dying recently, the systems and governments flailing around. At least there are some new governments trying to come about, like those in blerk and BMS. Also the area control of the LTC and DHW Lord and Hostess seems to be working fairly well at stablising a small section of the world, even if it is only one town.

It's the Dark Ages of Cantr. Soon (or not so soon), there will be the Renaissance and the world will rejoice! :D

........Then we lapse into another dark age, and the cycle continues.

Renaissance

Postby BlackRose » Fri Dec 24, 2004 10:16 pm

I agree! We should have a Renaissance, and Dark Ages, and begin building castles and fortresses! *grins*

Cantr is dying though... The two most exciting things happening are one of my charries has turned a thief to work for him because he does not want her killed, and another charrie has been kidnapped. o_0 Everything is so quite, I have been wanting to create a band of thieves and cut-throats to cause chaos and take over.
So if soon a little quiet peasant village is raided and hostages taken, blame me.

I should do that! Just start raiding random places to form a new government and rebuild things... o_0 I am getting ideas..... How bout anyone else?

Wonderful ideas of late on this thread. :D

Actually doing that would be quite bad. It would probably annoy more people into leaving.
You could always travel around, gathering all the really awake people who have yet to attach themselves, then build a community in some deserted area.

I was actually sorta kidding about that, shouldn't have said it though...

But yes, I like that idea... I've tried to do that once, but no one really listened. Haha...

There is now no chance of building new communities whatsoever.

Don't be so pessimistic. I have seen places with no real community. Just people hanging around, not really doing much.
As for new islands, that is a definite challenge. Simply because of things like large animal numbers, restricted number of resources. But it still could be fun.

I agree. I think we have to start again but are to scared. I say its time for a major revolution!
It's sad my first charachter just died. Anyways we need to start again and I think we have to overthrow the current leaders or do something. But we need to rule by strength. eg. nobody that enters the town leaves alive.

Or for that matter dead either.

Yeah there are plenty of places to start a community. Just not any directly on top of hematite, wood, rubber, a food source, and 20 abandoned passanger cars. You don't need to have access to all the choice materials to build a community you just need to start somewhere and maybe expand into other regions. The best example I can give you is Lad. Which truely is a remarkable story. The capital's best resource is rice, but they managed to take over more of the map than any other empire ever. Granted things were a lot different back then but there is no reason why tiredness can't be seen as a good thing now. With tiredness it has become a lot easier to overthrow some of those dictators that nobody can hit because they have the only crossbow, iron shield, and source of hematite on the island. (I really wish I had a character on the Sring-Sri island, but I'm sure the next character I'll spawn will be at Seatown Forest just like my other 20)

Yes, and also do consider the potential in joining an already existent organization. Quite a few of my original characters were quick to join governments, organizations and groups, and have proceeded quite far in them, or as far as they wanted to go. Activity, alertness and just a fair share of ability is needed, to go a long way in cantr. It's more than possible to unite people in areas with food sources and the such.

And Sociologist, as you were the one who pointed it out, consider Djorf Hills South, of the KDS region. All it has are a bunch of independent fishermen, last I checked.
