On the K island I think Iron is traded fairly often. Elsewhere anyone who could offer iron just sends a work party for what they need and pays them nothing...

The idea with trading iron is you either trade for a lot of something like food that you would have to travel a little for, of for a huge amount of something you wouldn't have to travel for (wood in KF, say) or for a little of something even more valuble and remote, like diamonds or rubber.

But a lot of people think 'only trade for better resources' and will starve instead of trade iron for food...

Seatown Forest traded iron very often if they trusted you. They also traded steel pretty heavly too. And there was never a stragety to whore all of the iron to themselves. They were just making sure that the iron and steel didn't get into the wrong hands. There is a history to it. Maynard, Craktar, and most of the First Krif Empire that created the woes that we still feel today were armed by Forest iron and steel. So the Forest has some guilt that in a way indirectly made the region what it is today and destruction of the innocence.

There are also regulations on gathering hematite and coal but that is only because once more to make sure things don't fall into the wrong hands as well as support local businesses in the Forest like Whitmore's Metalworking Shop.

I did not see your request before Nitefyre, and I put this one up because you put one up about me before, but I will take it down because I did not see your last request and I had completely forgotten about it. =-\

SF spread massive quantities of resources and goods throughout the KDS region. I recall a day when 15,000 iron, 9,000 coal, and 900 rubber were gifted out "just because". There was a 5 year "golden period" in that town where resources were piling up so fast that the Forest's leader felt disturbed by it, seriously. It almost all came from foreign labor as well :) .

Thousands of days (not exaggerating) worth of goods and resources were "gifted" out in 98 days, by way of direct gifts and "loans" that were never intended to be collected on. The idea was that it would all come back in the end, by way of more businesses in the region, and better prices due to lessened travel times, etc.

So, it may be difficult for an individual who hasn't earned trust to walk away from the Forest with raw iron or steel, but SF has taken great measures to be sure that neighboring towns benefited from valuable resources, rather than hoarding them or what-not.

Thanks, I apologize for any contempt if it was heard as such, as it initially was not meant as such.

Yeah, I don't see what's wrong with Seatown Forest. My character in the region has found nothing but good people, good resources and a good time there-all of em very generous and gracious. =P

I wish i was there during the gifting . *greedy grin*

Brunoi is a friendly trading area. I have a char there who will give away 2 days worth of iron, for one days worth of tomatoes. There is a hematite drill that she allows anyone to use, and the Blacksmith is always open for people to work in as well. I don't see the hoarding. Alenz Hills has hematite, and they don't limit the digging. I think they prohibit drilling though.

Aha! I know who Slowness is!

Problem is, I'm too busy gathering other resources to get tomatoes for you. Stone takes a long time.

lmao! Clinton was able to get away with a whole lot! And it was still put into the press without a warning, so why do I need one *feigns indignance* >.>; ANYWAY. Ahem..*cough* I was thinking about Olip Forest region, and they are weird there indeed. Yet they do allow people to gather hematite, as long as they state their name. Longinazy is like that too, but you can't use the drill.

Olip Forest is cool. As harsh as it may seem, it aint all that bad, do the right things, get on the right side of the CLAN (My idea!! Grrr. ) All you have to do, is state your name, and maybe give a gift, or two.

I got on the good side of the Olip Forest clan. All I had to do was ask :)
